- Heat 1 c. of the sugar in a heavy pan, stirring with a wooden spoon, till dark brown. Add in rest of the sugar and stir in lowfat milk gradually.
- Cook to hard ball stage (a drop forms a hard ball in cool water).
- Remove from burner. Add in vanilla. Beat till creamy. Mix in nuts.
- Pour into a buttered 8-inch pan. When hard, cut into squares.
