- In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and both of the sugars until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs, one at a time.
- Beat well after each addition.
- Beat in the extract.
- Combine the flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add to the creamed mixture.
- Set aside 1/4 cup vanilla chips
- Stir the remaining chips into the batter.
- Spread into a greased 15 x 10 inch baking pan
- Sprinkle with the reserved chips
- Bake at 375 F for 18-23 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean
- Cool on a wire rack.
- Cut into bars
