%20or%20something.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20told%20her%20I%20only%20had%20one%20catch%20%E2%80%93%20she%E2%80%99d%20have%20to%20guest-post%20for%20me!%20I%E2%80%99ve%20never%20had%20a%20guest-poster%20on%20my%20site,%20so%20the%20idea%20of%20swapping%20made%20me%20super%20tingly%20excited.%20%20Then%20the%20holidays%20came,%20and%20went,%20and%20Kym%20prepped%20for%20a%20big%20apartment%20move,%20and%20I%20got%20a%20new%20job,%20and%20our%20recipes%20got%20away%20with%20us.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUntil%20today.%20%20I%20welcome%20Kym%20to%20The%20Dusty%20Baker%20with%20open,%20hug-ready%20arms.%20%20We%20met%20a%20few%20months%20ago%20through%20writing%20for%20Bromography.com.%20%20Then%20Kym%20accompanied%20me%20to%20the%20Great%20American%20Pie-Off,%20lending%20some%20moral%20support%20for%20my%20entering%20my%20first%20pie%20competition%20where%20we%20took%20home%202%20of%204%20awards.%20%20%20She%E2%80%99s%20a%20very%20talented%20cook%20and%20food%20photographer,%20and%20I%E2%80%99m%20sure%20she%E2%80%99ll%20continue%20to%20achieve%20incredibly%20great%20things.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHead%20over%20to%20FreeSpiritEater%20to%20grab%20my%20recipe,%20Kumquat%20Chutney%20Hand%20Pies.%20%20And%20while%20you%E2%80%99re%20there,%20flip%20through%20her%20mouth-watering%20recipes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EKumquat%20Chutney%20Hand%20Pies%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFrom%20Kym,%20The%20Free%20Spirit%20Eater%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20Jacqueline%20asked%20me%20to%20guest%20post%20on%20the%20Dusty%20Baker%20Blog%20for%20a%20recipe%20swap%20I%20immediately%20felt%20a%20sense%20of%20excitement.%20I%20love%20her%20site,%20am%20a%20huge%20fan%20of%20her%20writing%20and%20consider%20her%20a%20friend.%20I%20can%20only%20wish%20that%20one%20day%20my%20writing%20could%20be%20as%20intricate,%20descriptive,%20delicate%20and%20powerful%20while%20still%20being%20witty%20and%20quirky%20as%20Jacqueline%E2%80%99s%20writing%20style%20is.%20But%20I%20also%20felt%20my%20quick%20moment%20of%20panic.%20What%20did%20I%20get%20myself%20into?%20I%20am%20no%20stranger%20to%20gluten%20free%20cooking.%20I%E2%80%99ve%20altered%20dishes%20to%20make%20them%20gluten%20free%20by%20request%20when%20I%20worked%20as%20a%20line%20cook.%20But%20until%20this%20recipe%20swap,%20pretty%20much%20every%20baked%20good%20I%20had%20ever%20prepared%20requires%20some%20type%20of%20glutinous%20ingredient.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAs%20someone%20who%20has%20never%20had%20a%20food%20allergy%20in%20her%20life%20and%20is%20a%20free%20spirit%20who%20simply%20consumes%20what%20is%20placed%20before%20her,%20working%20with%20restrictions%20was%20quite%20a%20challenge.%20Whenever%20I%20thought%20of%20a%20recipe%20to%20attempt,%20I%20stopped%20myself%20realizing%20it%20wasn%E2%80%99t%20gluten%20free.%20Through%20this%20challenge%20and%20experiment,%20I%20have%20gained%20a%20great%20respect%20for%20anyone%20with%20a%20food%20allergy.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow%20onto%20the%20baking!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20found%20this%20gluten%20free%20muffin%20recipe%20online%20which%20asked%20for%20soy%20milk,%20sesame%20oil%20and%20oats%20among%20the%20list%20of%20ingredients.%20I%20used%20neither%20of%20these%20and%20altered%20it%20entirely%20where%20it%20does%20not%20resemble%20the%20original%20recipe%20in%20any%20way.%20I%20had%20never%20worked%20with%20white%20rice%20flour%20before,%20but%20purchased%20it%20for%20this%20special%20occasion.%20The%20texture%20was%20different,%20lighter,%20leaving%20a%20lovely%20scent%20as%20I%20plopped%20down%20the%20first%20cup%20full.%20Since%20pomegranates%20are%20still%20in%20season,%20I%20worked%20some%20seeds%20into%20the%20mix%20as%20well%20as%20sweetened%20coconut%20flakes%20and%20golden%20raisins.%20They%20didn%E2%80%99t%20rise%20as%20much%20as%20I%20wanted%20them%20to,%20so%20another%20%C2%BC%20teaspoon%20of%20baking%20powder%20wouldn%E2%80%99t%20hurt%20next%20time.%20A%20bite%20into%20the%20finished%20product%20resembled%20a%20mix%20between%20cupcakes%20and%20muffins%20in%20texture.%20Not%20overly%20sweetened,%20but%20a%20pleasant%20light%20feel%20with%20sparks%20of%20pomegranate,%20sweetened%20flakes%20and%20juicy%20golden%20raisins%20teasing%20your%20palate%20with%20each%20bite.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAttempting%20my%20first%20gluten%20free%20baking%20project%20was%20a%20mix%20of%20emotions.%20I%20think%20the%20point%20of%20this%20swap%20was%20to%20get%20your%20hands%20dirty%20while%20being%20thrown%20out%20of%20your%20comfort%20zone.%20It%20was%20a%20challenge,%20but%20a%20successful%20one%20none%20the%20less.%20The%20muffins%20are%20not%20that%20big%20and%20have%20plenty%20of%20natural%20ingredients%20adding%20a%20distinct%20lovely%20taste.%20For%20those%20with%20a%20dairy%20allergy,%20soy%20can%20replace%20the%20cow%E2%80%99s%20milk.%20Feel%20free%20to%20switch%20the%20coconut%20flakes%20for%20toasted%20sliced%20almonds,%20or%20other%20nuts%20and%20dried%20fruit.%20Enjoy!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPomegranate%20&%20Coconut%20Golden%20Raisin%20Muffins%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDirections:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20oven%20to
