- Cover dry beans with water and soak overnight. Pour into colander, rinse and drain.
- Put beans in 2 qts of water in large pot. Bring to a boil. Cook for 30 min at Low boil.
- Add in salt and pepper to taste, potatoes, celery, leeks, green beans and bacon, that has been blanched for 2 min in boiling water. Allow to come to a boil. Reduce heat to Low. Cook for 30 min more.
- Add in cabbage during last 10 min of cooking time.
