- Freshly grated Asiago or possibly Parmesan cheese for garnish
- Saute/fry the bacon over moderate heat in a large saucepan till some of the fat has rendered, about 5 min. Add in the onions and saute/fry till tender but not brown, about 10 min. Stir in the cinnamon, allspice, salt, pepper, linguica, carrots, and kale. Add in the chicken stock and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer covered for 30 min. Add in the chickpeas and cook till heated through, about 5 min. Serve garnished with grated cheese.
