  • 4 ounce (110 g) bacon, diced
  • 2 med onion, minced
  • 2 x - 4 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) grnd cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp (2 ml) grnd allspice
  •     Salt and freshly grnd pepper to taste
  • 4 ounce (110 g) linguica or possibly other sausage, thinly sliced
  • 3 med carrots, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 lb (110 g) kale, coarsely minced
  • 4 c. (1 L) chicken stock
  • 2 can (15 ounce, 425 g each) chickpeas (garbanzos),
  •     rinsed and liquid removed

Direcciones

  1. Freshly grated Asiago or possibly Parmesan cheese for garnish
  2. Saute/fry the bacon over moderate heat in a large saucepan till some of the fat has rendered, about 5 min. Add in the onions and saute/fry till tender but not brown, about 10 min. Stir in the cinnamon, allspice, salt, pepper, linguica, carrots, and kale. Add in the chicken stock and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer covered for 30 min. Add in the chickpeas and cook till heated through, about 5 min. Serve garnished with grated cheese.
  3. Serves 6 to 8.
