Ingredientes

  • 2 pkt active dry yeast
  • 1/2 c. hot potato water
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 c. mashed potatoes
  • 1/8 Tbsp. grnd ginger
  • 1/2 c. lowfat milk
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 6 x Large eggs
  • 1 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 8 c. flour (8 to 10)

Direcciones

  1. Dissolve yeast in potato water. Stir in the 3 Tbsp. sugar, potatoes and ginger. Cover; let rise till doubled. Scald lowfat milk. add in salt and cold to lukewarm. In small bowl of electric mixer, beat Large eggs; and gradually beat in the 1 3/4 c. sugar. Stir into yeast mix. Add in butter and mix well. Stir in 2 c. of the flour, then the lowfat milk. Add in 2 more c. of the fl our; beat 5 min. Stir in sufficient remaining flour to make a stiff dough. Place on lightly floured board and knead in remaining flour till dough is smooth and elastic, about 8 to 10 min. Place in greased bowl. turning to grease top of dough. Co ver; let rise till dough is doubled. Grease four 9" x 5" x 3" loaf pans. Punch down dough and on a lightly floured board, divide into fourths. Shape each fourth into a loaf; place in prepared pans. Cover; let rise till doubled. Preheat electric oven to 325 degrees F. Bake for 45 min or possibly till done.
  2. NOTES : Use bread pans, and not free form. Reduce baking time, bread tends to burn.
  3. The last few times I made bread, it had a strong yeasty aftertaste to it. The bread came out fine, except for the taste. I made it by hand and used Fleshmanns (sp) yeast from Sam's Club if which made a difference. Now which I think of it I used about 2 Tbsp. of yeast for the 2 pkgs. of yeast. Too much yeast
