%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECook%20healthier.%20%20(Have%20you%20noticed%20my%20pumpkin%20soup,%20lentil%20soup%20and%20granola%20bar%20posts?)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESpend%20another%2015%20minutes%20a%20day%20doing%20something%20clean-worthy%20in%20the%20house.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThat%20leads%20me%20to%20the%20purpose%20of%20this%20post.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20am%20a%20slob.%20%20I%20admit%20it.%20%20(That%20is%20%236%20on%20my%20list%E2%80%94be%20more%20honest%20with%20myself.)%20%20%20%20More%20true%20confessions%E2%80%94the%20kitchen%20is%20usually%20a%20wreck.%20%20%20No,%20there%20are%20no%20crusty%20dishes%20in%20the%20sink,%20but%20there%20is%20just%20clutter%20everywhere%E2%80%94mail,%20recipe%20clippings,%20stacks%20of%20plates%20for%20photo%20ops,%20%20open%20cookbooks,%20etc.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20the%20cabinets%E2%80%94oh,%20those%20poor%20cabinets.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBefore%E2%80%A6poor%20things.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAt%20least%20twice%20a%20year%20I%20try%20to%20give%20them%20a%20spa%20day.%20%20%20They%20are%20abused%20most%20of%20year%20and%20they%20deserve%20a%20warming%20cleansing.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20a%20solution%20that%20I%20got%20from%20my%20sister%20years%20ago.%20%20%20It%20is%20remarkable%20stuff.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECabinet%20Cleaner%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Efrom%20The%20Sis%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E3%20T.%20linseed%20oil%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20T.%20turpentine%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20qt.%20hot%20water%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMix%20together%20in%20a%20cleaning%20pail.%20%20%20Dip%20a%20soft%20cloth%20(like%20and%20old%20wash%20cloth),%20into%20the%20mixture,%20wring%20out%20well,%20and%20go%20over%20cabinets.%20%20(If%20you%20have%20sensitive%20skin,%20please%20wear%20rubber%20or%20latex%20gloves.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUsing%20another%20dry%20soft%20cloth,%20buff%20to%20a%20shine.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20do%20not%20know%20the%20origins%20of%20this%20mixture%20but%20it%20is%20gold!%20%20You%20can%20buy%20linseed%20oil%20and%20turpentine%20at%20your%20local%20hardware%20store.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAfter%20picture.%20This%20really%20doesn%E2%80%99t%20do%20justice%20to%20how%20much%20better%20my%20cabinets%20look.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAfter%20the%20cabinets%20were%20all%20nice%20and%20clean%20we%20noticed%20the%20French%20doors%20in%20the%20kitchen%20and%20the%20living%20room%20looked%20disgusting.%20%20%20The%20Hubs%20mixed%20up%20a%20great%20window%20cleaner%20that%20he%20found%20online.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMagic%20Window%20Cleaner%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDissolve%20cornstarch%20well%20in%20liquid.%20%20%20Wipe%20on%20windows%20and%20squeegee%20off.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOne%20caveat%20here%E2%80%94I%20don%E2%80%99t%20know%20how%20well%20this%20would%20work%20without%20a%20squeegee.%20%20%20The%20cornstarch%20might%20leave%20a%20slight%20film.%20%20I%20haven%E2%80%99t%20tried%20this%20on%20mirrors%20yet.%20%20%20%20I%20can%20say%20that%20it%20worked%20wonders%20on%20our%20French%20doors.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESince%20it%20is%20virtually%20impossible%20to%20take%20a%20picture%20of%20a%20clean%20window,%20I%20leave%20you%20with%20a%20nostalgic%20smile%20today.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20cleaning%20was%20on%20your%20list%20of%20resolutions%20this%20year,%20I%20hope%20this%20helps%20you%20out.%20Now%20as%20far%20as%20my%20%20resolutions%20go,%20I%20have%20been%20doing%20pretty%20good%20with%20numbers%202,%204%20and%205.%20%20%20Still%20working%20on%20the%20rest.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHere%E2%80%99s%20to%20a%20healthier,%20less%20stressful,%20and%20more%20productive%202014!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhat%20were%20your%20resolutions%20this%20year?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELike%20Loading...%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
