Earl Grey Infused Gin for Food ‘n Flix and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
Food ‘n Flix has introduced me to some of my favorite all time films (foodie and otherwise).
My first introduction to this fab film group was Big Night. I was smitten. I could list all of my favorite FnF movies here but instead, I will just list the somewhat obscure films that were in the rotation that are on my all time favorite list today.
The aforementioned Big Night.

.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMy%20first%20introduction%20to%20this%20fab%20film%20group%20was%20Big%20Night.%20%20I%20was%20smitten.%20%20I%20could%20list%20all%20of%20my%20favorite%20FnF%20movies%20here%20but%20instead,%20I%20will%20just%20list%20the%20somewhat%20obscure%20films%20that%20were%20in%20the%20rotation%20that%20are%20on%20my%20all%20time%20favorite%20list%20today.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20aforementioned%20Big%20Night.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStranger%20than%20Fiction%20(which%20we%20recently%20rewatched)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EButter%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EChef%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPieces%20of%20April%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20Lunchbox%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20Beautiful%20Fantastic%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThen,%20there%E2%80%99s%20those%20great%20foreign%20films:%20%20Volver,%20Pan%E2%80%99s%20Labyrinth,%20Babette%E2%80%99s%20Feast,%20Delicatessen.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd,%20I%20love%20that%20FnF%20gives%20me%20the%20excuse%20to%20watch%20great%20animation%20like%20The%20Incredibles%20and%20Kung%20Fu%20Panda%20and%20Wreck%20It%20Ralph.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20revisit%20the%20classics,%20too,%20like%20Breakfast%20Club,%20Dirty%20Dancing,%20Guess%20Who%E2%80%99s%20Coming%20to%20Dinner%E2%80%A6.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnywhoo%E2%80%A6my%20point%20is%20that%20I%E2%80%99ve%20been%20exposed%20to%20some%20great%20viewing%20that%20I%20normally%20would%20not%20have%20had%20the%20inclination%20or%20even%20the%20knowledge%20to%20seek%20out.%20%20%20%20This%20month%E2%80%99s%20film,%20The%20Guernsey%20Literary%20and%20Potato%20Peel%20Pie%20Society%20is%20one.%20%20%20Culinary%20Adventures%20with%20Camilla%20is%20hosting.%20%20%20If%20you%20haven%E2%80%99t%20seen%20this%20film,%20check%20it%20out.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20film%20(based%20on%20the%20epistolary%20novel%20by%20Mary%20Ann%20Shaffer%20and%20Annie%20Barrows)%20is%20set%20in%20post%20WWII%20England.%20%20Elizabeth%20McKenna%20(Jessica%20Brown%20Findlay)%20is%20a%20plucky%20young%20writer%20trying%20to%20emerge%20from%20her%20comical%20alter%20ego,%20Izzy%20(a%20male%20pseudonym).%20%20She%20has%20fame%20and%20fortune%20and%20a%20hunky%20American%20fiance.%20%20She%20has%20it%20all.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThen,%20along%20comes%20a%20mysterious%20letter%20and%20her%20outlook%20and%20world%20changes.%20%20%20She%20becomes%20intrigued%20with%20%E2%80%9CThe%20Guernsey%20Literary%20and%20Potato%20Peel%20Pie%20Society,%E2%80%9D%20a%20group%20formed%20during%20the%20German%20occupation%20of%20this%20Channel%20Island.%20%20%20Elizabeth%20travels%20there%20and%20becomes%20obsessed%20with%20finding%20out%20about%20Juliet%20(Lily%20James),%20the%20founder%20of%20the%20group.%20%20%20She%20befriends%20the%20members%20of%20the%20society:%20%20the%20practical%20Eben%20(Tom%20Courtenay),%20the%20quirky%20Isola%20(Katherine%20Parkinson),%20the%20grim%20Amelia%20(Penelope%20Winton),%20and%20pig%20farmer%20Dawsey%20(Michiel%20Huisman).%20%20%20%20%20She%20becomes%20enamored%20by%20her%20new%20friends,%20their%20story,%20and%20the%20island.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20don%E2%80%99t%20want%20this%20description%20to%20sound%20like%20a%20quirky%20British%20rom-com.%20%20It%20is%20far%20from%20it.%20%20%20All%20of%20these%20characters%20(including%20Juliet)%20are%20still%20recovering%20from%20the%20horrors%20of%20war%20whether%20it%20was%20surviving%20bombings,%20losing%20loved%20ones,%20or%20dealing%20with%20a%20Nazi%20takeover.%20%20However,%20considering%20all%20the%20dark%20themes,%20it%20is%20still%20a%20sweet%20film.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThere%E2%80%99s%20a%20bit%20of%20food%20in%20the%20film%20(beyond%20the%20somewhat%20inedible%20Potato%20Peel%20Pie%20from%20the%20title)%20like%20roasted%20pig%20and%20Eben%E2%80%99s%20scones.%20%20%20I%20was%20drawn%20to%20Isola%E2%80%99s%20character%20though.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20loved%20her%20quirky%20wardrobe%20and%20her%20profession:%20%20gin%20maker!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EShe%20supplied%20the%20literary%20society%20(and%20the%20island)%20with%20her%20own%20unique%20spin%20on%20infused%20gins.%20%20So,%20instead%20of%20a%20proper%20British%20scone%20with%20clotted%20cream,%20I%20decided%20to%20infuse%20some%20good%20London%20gin%20with%20Earl%20Grey%20tea.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIsola%20in%20with%20her%20herbs%20and%20flowers%20for%20infusing.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EEarl%20Grey%20Infused%20Gin%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBy%20Debra%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUse%20whatever%20gin%20you%20like%20and%20experiment%20with%20other%20tea%20flavors.%20Orange%20pekoe%20would%20be%20interesting.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EInstructions%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20gin%20in%20a%20sterilized%20pint%20jar.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20tea%20bag,%20screw%20on%20lid%20and%20let%20set%20for%201-3%20hours.%20%20(Taste%20hourly%20to%20test%20the%20flavor%20profile.%20%20Discard%20bags%20when%20you%20reach%20your%20mark.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemove%20tea%20bag%20and%20discard.%20Use%20gin%20for%20your%20favorite%20cocktail.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYield:%201%20pint%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EInfusing.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%E2%80%99s%20almost%20%E2%80%9Ctea%E2%80%9D%20time.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20overtones%20of%20vanilla%20with%20the%20hint%20of%20lavender%20of
