,%20eating%20more%20fruits%20and%20veggies,%20focusing%20on%20lean%20proteins,%20drinking%20plenty%20of%20water,%20and%20making%20exercise%20a%20daily%20priority,%20we%20have%20shed%20a%20collective%2050+%20pounds!%20So%20for%20now,%20%22modified%22%20pizza%20works%20for%20us.%20And%20it%20was%20so%20tasty!%20All%20of%20the%20flavors%20are%20there.%20Another%20bonus,%20this%20is%20a%20quick%20and%20easy%20meal%20that%20I%20was%20able%20to%20throw%20together%20pretty%20quickly%20after%20work.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20here's%20how%20it%20came%20together:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAs%20is%20my%20tradition,%20I%20gathered%20the%20ingredients.%20We%20like%20our%20pizza%20%22loaded%22,%20and%20so%20I%20rounded%20up%20turkey%20sausage%20and%20turkey%20pepperoni,%20diced%20tomatoes,%20onions,%20mushrooms,%20banana%20peppers,%20and%20cheese.%20I%20also%20grabbed%20some%20olive%20oil%20and%20Italian%20seasonings.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20get%20started,%20I%20opened%20a%20can%20of%20diced%20tomatoes%20and%20poured%20them%20into%20a%20colander%20to%20drain%20while%20I%20prepared%20the%20other%20components%20of%20this%20dish.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThen%20I%20set%20about%20preparing%20the%20sausage.%20I%20purchased%20Italian%20turkey%20sausage%20in%20link%20form,%20then%20removed%20the%20casings.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20fired%20up%20my%20cast%20iron%20skillet%20and%20added%20a%20couple%20teaspoons%20of%20olive%20oil%20and%20a%20sliced%20onion.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20sausage%20went%20on%20top%20and%20I%20browned%20up%20the%20whole%20mess,%20breaking%20up%20the%20sausage%20as%20it%20cooked.%20You%20can%20also%20sprinkle%20with%20Italian%20seasoning%20or%20add%20garlic/garlic%20salt%20at%20this%20step.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOnce%20the%20sausage%20was%20nice%20and%20brown%20and%20the%20onions%20were%20perfectly%20tender,%20I%20added%20in%20some%20sliced%20mushrooms.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOnce%20the%20mushrooms%20cooked%20down%20a%20little,%20I%20built%20the%20%22pizza%22.%20First,%20I%20topped%20it%20with%20the%20drained%20diced%20tomatoes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThen,%20I%20added%20some%20banana%20peppers%20and%20turkey%20pepperoni.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20finally,%20the%20cheese.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThen%20I%20popped%20the%20whole%20skillet%20into%20a%20400%20degree%20oven%20and%20baked%20it%20for%2015-20%20minutes%20until%20the%20cheese%20melted%20and%20the%20edges%20were%20bubbling%20nicely.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThen%20BOOM!%20I%20sliced%20the%20%22pizza%22%20into%206%20pieces%20and%20tah-dah....Dinner!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EQuick,%20easy,%20low-calorie,%20and%20delicious!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%22Pretend%20I'm%20a%20Deep%20Dish%22%20Pizza%20Skillet%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20oven%20to%20400%20degrees.%20Drain%20diced%20tomatoes,%20set%20aside.%20Heat%201-3%20teaspoons%20of%20olive%20oil%20in%20an%20oven-proof%20skillet.%20Add%20onions%20to%20the%20heated%20skilled.%20Remove%20sausage%20from%20casings,%20if%20needed.%20Add%20sausage%20to%20skillet%20and%20break%20apart%20as%20you%20brown%20the%20mixture.%20Sprinkle%20with%20Italian%20seasoning%20and/or%20add%20garlic%20if%20desired.%20%20Add%20mushrooms%20to%20skillet%20and%20cook%20until%20soft.%20Top%20sausage-onion-mushroom%20mixture%20with%20drained%20diced%20tomatoes,%20banana%20peppers,%20pepperoni,%20and%20cheese.%20Remove%20from%20burner%20and%20bake%20for%2010-20%20minutes,%20until%20cheese%20is%20melted%20and%20sides%20are%20%22bubbly%22.%20%20Remove%20from%20oven%20and%20slice%20into%206%20portions.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20%22slice%22=%201%20cup%20of%20the%20mixture=%20225%20calories%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHappy%20cooking,%20everyone!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELove,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EKrista%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
