Receta Punjabi Dal Fry
A popular North Indian dal recipe. Serve with rice or with roti.
Ingredients:
- Moong Dal – 1 cup
- Onions – 2, chopped
- Tomatoes – 2, chopped
- Ginger Garlic Paste – 2 tsp
- Cumin Powder – 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric Powder – a large pinch
- Cumin Seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Red Chilli Powder – 1/2 tsp
- Juice of 1 Lemon
- Coriander Leaves – few, chopped
- Oil – 1 tblsp
- Salt as per taste
Method:
1. Heat oil in a pressure pan (or cooker).
2. Add the cumin seeds and fry for 30 seconds.
3. Add the ginger garlic paste and stir well.
4. Add the onions, tomatoes and saute for 2 minutes.
5. Add red chilli powder, salt, cumin powder and turmeric powder.
6. Add the moong dal and add enough water.
7. Cover and pressure cook until 4 to 6 whistles or until dal is cooked.
8. Remove from flame.
9. Add lemon juice and stir well.
10. Garnish with coriander leaves.
11. Serve.
