%20and%20knew%20that%20I%20just%20had%20to%20give%20it%20a%20go.%20It's%20from%20Gordon%20Ramsey's%20Sunday%20Lunch%20cookbook,%20and%20whether%20you%20like%20the%20man%20or%20not,%20he%20can%20cook.%20I%20liked%20the%20sound%20of%20the%20ginger%20and%20nuts%20in%20this%20crumble,%20so%20the%20chicken%20was%20forgotten,%20at%20least%20for%20a%20little%20while,%20while%20I%20started%20jotting%20down%20the%20rhubarb%20crumble%20ingredients%20on%20my%20shopping%20list.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20changed%20the%20recipe%20a%20little%20bit%20as%20even%20after%20my%20shopping%20trip%20I%20didn't%20have%20any%20stem%20ginger%20or%20vanilla%20sugar,%20so%20here%20is%20my%20version%20with%20the%20original%20in%20brackets.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20your%20oven%20to%20190C/Gas%205.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EToss%20the%20rhubarb%20in%20the%20sugar%20and%20place%20in%20a%20large%20pan%20over%20medium%20heat.%20Add%20two%20tablespoons%20of%20water%20and%20the%20vanilla%20essence%20and%20cook%20for%20bout%208%20minutes%20stirring%20once%20or%20twice%20carefully.%20You%20don't%20want%20it%20to%20go%20to%20soft,%20the%20pieces%20should%20feel%20just%20tender%20when%20pierced%20with%20the%20tip%20of%20a%20sharp%20knife.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20the%20ginger%20syrup,%20carefully%20stir%20and%20pour%20into%20a%201.5-2.%20litre%20baking%20dish%20and%20set%20aside%20to%20cool.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhile%20it's%20cooling%20you%20can%20start%20making%20the%20crumble.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20large%20bowl%20slightly%20crush%20the%20hazelnuts%20with%20a%20rolling%20pin,%20alternatively%20place%20them%20in%20a%20freezer%20bag%20and%20bash%20them%20a%20little%20with%20a%20pan%20or%20a%20rolling%20pin.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20another%20bowl%20rub%20the%20flour%20and%20the%20butter%20together%20with%20your%20finger%20tips%20until%20they%20form%20a%20crumb-like%20mix.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20the%20demerara%20sugar,%20nutmeg,%20oats%20and%20nuts%20and%20mix%20well.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EEvenly%20spread%20the%20crumble%20over%20the%20cooled%20rhubarb%20and%20bake%20for%2020-25%20minutes%20until%20golden%20brown.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAllow%20to%20cool%20for%2010%20minutes%20before%20serving.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhile%20it's%20cooling,%20mix%20the%20mascarpone%20with%20the%20lemon%20zest%20and%20ginger%20syrup%20to%20serve%20with%20your%20crumble.%20Of%20course%20it%20also%20goes%20well%20with%20ice%20cream%20or%20custard.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
