%20Local%20First%20with%20it's%202nd%20Annual%20Farm-To-Street%20Party.%20Despite%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ethe%20continuous%20rain,%20(which%20many%20looked%20to%20prefer%20over%20100%20degree%20heat),%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ethe%20outdoor%20celebration%20on%20a%20pop-up%20park%20on%20V%20Street%20went%20on%20as%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eplanned,%20with%20music,%20cooking%20demonstrations,%20a%20pie%20eating%20contest,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eand%20over%2040%20vendors%20selling%20hand-crafted%20gifts,%20and%20of%20course,%20food!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EJelly%20from%20Rutabaga%20sweets.%20It%20took%20me%20a%20while%20to%20decide%20between%20Passion%20Mandin,%20Blood%20Orange,%20and%20Strawberry%20Guava,%20(I%20really%20should%20have%20chose%20all%20three)%20but%20I%20went%20with%20the%20Blood%20Orange,%20and%20it%20adds%20the%20perfect%20touch%20to%20my%20breakfast,%20or%20late-night%20snack.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELangdon%20Wood%20Barrel-Aged%20Maple%20Syrup%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20Sweetgreen%20crew%20mixing%20up%20some%20salads.%20As%20soon%20as%20I%20saw%20the%20words%20%22Guacamole%20Greens%22%20I%20knew%20where%20one%20of%20my%20food%20tickets%20was%20going.%20I%20can%20never%20say%20no%20to%20a%20chicken%20and%20avocado%20combo.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHoney%20Roasted%20Peanuts%20from%20Coastal%20Nut%20packed%20a%20mighty%20crunch.%20I%20immediately%20fell%20in%20love%20with%20the%20Salt%20and%20Pepper%20flavor,%20as%20pepper%20is%20my%20favorite%20condiment!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20Salt%20and;%20Pepper%20isn't%20available%20as%20a%20flavor,%20my%20next%20go%20to%20is%20Salt%20and%20Vinegar,%20which%20Route%2011%20Chips%20happily%20provided%20me.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERaw%20Vegan%20treats%20from%20Gouter.%20This%20photo%20is%20actually%20from%20the%20A%20Bigger%20Future%20for%20Local%20Food%20-%20Industry%20Panel,%20held%20on%20Wednesday,%20July%2018th%20at%20the%20Phillips%20Collection,%20but%20Gouter%20was%20also%20at%20the%20Farm-To-Street%20Party,%20where%20I%20put%20zero%20thought%20into%20pulling%20out%20two%20food%20tickets%20for%20their%20fresh%20Tonic.%20Made%20with%20a%20bit%20of%20Jalapeno,%20the%20Tonic%20puts%20a%20nice%20kick%20in%20your%20day.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlates%20from%20Sonoma%20came%20with%20lots%20of%20smiles.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20first%20tried%20a%20cookie%20from%20Whisked!%20at%20the%20U%20St.%20Farmer's%20Market%20a%20month%20or%20so%20ago.%20I%20then%20started%20recommending%20their%20pies%20without%20ever%20having%20tried%20them.%20Here%20I%20found%20the%20perfect%20opportunity%20to%20try%20a%20slice%20of%20Tomato%20and%20Goat%20Cheese%20pie.%20I%20will%20continue%20to%20recommend%20their%20pies.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGoldilocks%20Goodies!%20Unfortunately%20I%20didn't%20make%20room%20to%20sample%20these%20treats,%20but%20my%20friend%20did,%20and%20she%20was%20this%20close%20to%20coming%20back%20for%20seconds.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPizzas%20were%20cooked%20up%20in%20a%20mobile%20brick%20oven%20with%20ingredients%20provided%20by%20Whipple%20Farms.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECooking%20demonstrations%20at%20the%20Operation%20Eatery%20tent.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E13th%20Street%20Meats%20working%20the%20grill.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThink%20Local%20First's%20Farm-To-Street%20Party%20was%20much%20like%20a%20Taste%20of%20DC,%20with%20a%20local%20focus%20(and%20much%20less%20chaotic)%20providing%20a%20perfect%20way%20to%20spend%20a%20Saturday,%20even%20a%20rainy%20one.%20For%20more%20info%20about%20how%20to%20support%20local%20businesses%20in%20DC,%20even%20when%20Think%20Local%20First%20isn't%20throwing%20parties,%20visit%20http://thinklocalfirstdc.com/.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
