%20that%20ended%20up%20in%20the%20trash,%20stir%20fried%20beef%20and%20broccoli%20that%20tasted%20bitter%20(most've%20burned%20something),%20and%20a%20really%20weird%20chocolate%20cake%20thing%20that%20I%20had%20to%20bake%20for%20a%20photography%20contest%20that's%20just...I%20dunno...I'm%20afraid%20to%20taste%20it.%20All%20this%20has%20been%20extremely%20frustrating%20to%20say%20the%20least.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThank%20God%20this%20one%20was%20worth%20eating.%20Actually,%20more%20than%20that....according%20to%20my%20daughter's%20friend...it%20was%20bomb.%20(not%20a%20bomb....but%20the%20bomb!)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20last%20assignment%20from%20HBin5%20was%20to%20make%20Whole%20Grain%20Rye%20Bread.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENot%20only%20did%20I%20add%20the%20caraway%20seed%20as%20instructed,%20but%20I%20did%20add%20some%20dill%20and%20parsley.%20YUM!!!%20It's%20a%20fantastic%20dough%20which%20makes%20a%20fabulous%20loaf%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOf%20course%20I%20had%20enough%20dough%20to%20make%20more%20loaves.%20And%20what%20did%20I%20do?%20I%20made%20a%20Reuben%20Style%20Roll!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETalk%20about%20delicious!%20And%20I'm%20not%20a%20sauerkraut%20fan%20at%20all.%20But%20I%20found%20a%20way%20to%20ease%20that%20issue.%20I%20took%20an%20onion,%20sliced%20it%20and%20sauteed%20it%20in%20some%20oil.%20I%20took%20a%20bag%20of%20sauerkraut%20and%20rinsed%20it%20really%20well%20under%20cold%20water%20and%20then%20added%20it%20to%20the%20onion%20along%20with%20a%20teaspoon%20of%20paprika,%20some%20pepper%20and%20a%20tablespoon%20of%20sugar....continued%20sauteing%20for%2020%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHUGE%20difference...and%20way%20awesome%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow...I%20had%20some%20hesitations%20about%20using%20Thousand%20Island%20dressing%20in%20this%20recipe.%20Don't%20get%20me%20wrong...I%20really%20like%20Thousand%20Island.%20Before%20Ranch%20came%20around%20(yes,%20there%20was%20a%20time%20in%20my%20lifetime%20when%20Ranch%20Dressing%20had%20not%20yet%20been%20invented%20or%20well%20known),%20Thousand%20Island%20was%20my%20dressing%20of%20choice.%20Anyways....the%20idea%20of%20baking%20the%20dressing%20kinda%20grossed%20me%20out%20a%20little.%20But...a%20sandwich%20without%20a%20condiment%20just%20aint%20right.%20And%20now%20for%20my%20other%20food%20issue...I'm%20not%20a%20mustard%20fan.%20There%20are%20only%202%20things%20that%20I%20will%20eat%20mustard%20on....corn%20dogs%20and%20pastrami%20sandwiches.%20But,%20believe%20it%20or%20not,%20I%20really%20like%20honey%20mustard.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20that's%20what%20I%20used....2%20parts%20mustard%20to%201%20part%20honey%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGood%20stuff.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow%20that%20all%20my%20issues%20were%20under%20control....the%20fun%20began.%20I%20took%20a%20wad%20(about%201%20pound)%20of%20my%20rye%20dough%20and%20rolled%20it%20into%20a%20rectangular%20shape.%20I%20spread%20the%20mustard%20over%20it,%20leaving%20about%201%20inch%20along%20the%20edge%20%22clean%22.%20I%20put%20a%20layer%20of%20thinly%20sliced%20corned%20beef,%20topped%20with%20Baby%20Swiss%20Cheese%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELast%20but%20not%20least....the%20sauerkraut%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDon't%20try%20and%20pile%20on%20the%20goods%20too%20much.%20It's%20a%20little%20tricky%20to%20roll%20up%20and%20as%20you%20go,%20the%20goods%20move%20ahead%20and%20you%20end%20up%20with%20more%20on%20the%20end%20than%20you%20began.%20And%20besides....it%20gets%20heavy.%20And%20then%20you%20need%20tools%20(ie:%20spatula)%20to%20help%20you%20safely%20place%20the%20roll%20in%20the%20bread%20pan.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESooo,%20yes%20you%20roll%20it%20up%20like%20a%20log,%20starting%20on%20one%20of%20the%20short%20ends.%20You%20pinch%20the%20seam%20and%20the%20ends%20(folding%20the%20ends%20under)%20and%20you%20gently%20place%20it%20in%20a%20bread%20pan%20that's%20been%20sprayed%20with%20cooking%20spray.%20Cover%20it%20and%20let%20it%20rise%20for%2090%20minutes%20(hey...they%20say%20food%20is%20safe%20for%202%20hours,%20right?%20and%20remember%20all%20those%20years%20we%20packed%20a%20lunch%20without%20ice%20packs?%20Oooh...am%20I%20aging%20myself%20again?%20Anyways....90%20minutes%20is%20cool)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBake%20in%20a%20350'%20F%20oven%20for%20about%2050%20-%2060%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAaaaaaaaaan%20Voila!!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYa...it%20cracked%20along%20the%20edge...and%20it%20sagged%20like%20an%20old%20nag.%20But%20what%20actually%20happened%20was%20that%20my%20log%20was%20longer%20than%20the%20bread%20pan....and%20the%20ends%20got%20squished%20and%20well...this%20was%20the%20result.%20Let's%20just%20say%20it%20has%20personality%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20great%20taste!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHot%20meat,%20melty%20cheese....sweet%20and%20sour%20sauerkraut%20with%20every%20inch%20of%20it%20surrounded%20with%20fresh%20homemade%20Rye%20Bread!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMy%20next%20post?%20I'll%20show%20you%20what%20I%20served%20this%20with.%20(I'll%20give%20you%20a%20hint....I%20made%20it%20in%20a%20big%20old%20pot).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBtw...in%20case%20you're%20wondering....I%20don't%20have%20the%20bread%20recipe%20on%20here%20because%20when%20I%20'signed%20up'%20to%20be%20part%20of%20the%20HBin5%20group,%20I%20agreed%20not%20to%20publish%20the%20recipes%20because%20we%20are%20baking%20our%20way%20through%20the%20entire%20book%20and%20it%20really%20would%20not%20be%20cool%20to%20basically%20re-publish%20it%20all%20here.%20But,%20if%20you%20have%20the%20book,%20the%20dough%20recipe%20can%20be%20found%20on%20page%20113.%20Now%20I%20did%20make%20a%20small%20change,%20which%20is%20typical%20for%20me...I%20always%20use%20white%20whole%20wheat%20for%20its%20more%20mild%20flavor.%20I%20also%20half%20the%20amount%20of%20whole%20wheat%20flour%20that's%20called%20for%20and%20increase%20the%20all%20purpose%20flour%20by%20that%20amount.%20It%20cuts%20down%20on%20the%20whole%20earthiness...which%20isn't%20really%20my%20thing.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI'm%20really%20excited%20about%20the%20next%20assignment%20Michelle%20over%20at%20BigBlackDogs.net%20(Michelle%20is%20the%20one%20who%20has%20organized%20and%20runs%20the%20whole%20HBin5%20show)%20has%20us%20doing....Pumpernickle!!%20How%20fun%20will%20THAT%20be?!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
