%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20was%20stuck%20in%20a%20Brussels%20sprouts%20rut%20and%20very%20happy%20about%20it.%20It%20was%20not%20until%20I%20was%20asked%20to%20bring%20Brussels%20sprouts%20to%20the%20lovely%20Thanksgiving%20gathering%20of%20family%20and%20friends%20we%20attended%20this%20year%20that%20I%20felt%20it%20was%20time%20to%20try%20something%20new.%20So%20I%20pulled%20one%20of%20my%20very%20favorite%20cookbooks,%20Andrea%20Chesman's%20excellent,%20Recipes%20From%20The%20Root%20Cellar%20off%20the%20shelf%20and%20started%20thumbing%20through%20it%20for%20ideas.%20She's%20got%20so%20many%20delicious-sounding%20Brussels%20sprouts%20recipes%20that%20I%20had%20a%20hard%20time%20choosing%20just%20one.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAfter%20much%20agonizing,%20I%20settled%20on%20this%20recipe%20because%20I%20liked%20the%20idea%20of%20using%20breadcrumbs,%20garlic%20and%20Parmesan%20(how%20can%20you%20really%20go%20wrong%20with%20these%20ingredients,%20right?)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20prep%20is%20fairly%20simple%20(the%20most%20time-consuming%20part%20for%20me%20was%20trimming%20the%20sprouts%20since%20the%20ones%20I%20had%20to%20work%20with%20were%20not%20in%20the%20best%20shape%20and%20needed%20a%20lot%20of%20peeling).%20And%20the%20results%20are%20simply%20divine...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EJust%20toss%20with%20olive%20oil,%20salt%20and%20pepper%20and%20roast%20for%2015%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThen%20remove%20from%20the%20delightfully%20browned,%20caramelized%20petit%20choux%20from%20the%20oven.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETop%20with%20the%20breadcrumb%20mixture%20and%20bake%20for%20another%20few%20minutes%20to%20crisp%20the%20topping.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20then%20try%20not%20to%20devour%20the%20entire%20panful%20in%20one%20sitting.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERoasted%20Brussels%20Sprouts%20With%20Garlic%20Parmesan%20Buttered%20Breadcrumb%20Topping%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServes%204%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDirections%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1.%20Preheat%20the%20oven%20to%20425%20F.%20Lightly%20oil%20a%20heavy%20baking%20sheet%20(preferred)%20or%20large%20shallow%20roasting%20pan.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2.%20Mound%20the%20Brussels%20sprouts%20on%20the%20sheet%20pan,%20drizzle%20the%20olive%20oil%20over%20them%20and%20toss%20gently%20to%20coat.%20Arrange%20the%20sprouts%20in%20a%20single%20uncrowded%20layer.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E3.%20Roast%20for%20about%2015%20minutes,%20shaking%20the%20pan%20occasionally%20to%20ensure%20even%20cooking,%20until%20the%20sprouts%20are%20tender%20and%20lightly%20browned.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E4.%20Meanwhile,%20melt%20the%20butter%20in%20a%20small%20saucepan%20and%20toss%20the%20garlic%20in%20for%20just%202-3%20minutes.%20Then%20combine%20the%20butter-garlic%20mixture%20with%20the%20breadcrumbs%20and%20cheese%20in%20a%20small%20bowl%20and%20season%20with%20salt%20and%20pepper.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E5.%20Remove%20the%20sprouts%20from%20the%20oven,%20sprinkle%20the%20breadcrumbs%20mixture%20over%20them%20evenly%20and%20return%20them%20to%20the%20oven.%20Roast%20for%20another%206-8%20minutes,%20until%20the%20breadcrumbs%20are%20toasted%20and%20golden.%20Serve%20hot.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
