Salmon Chowder

Hearty soup for a cold winter day.

Ingredientes

  • 6 slices bacon, diced
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3 cups diced potatoes
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 cans chicken broth (14.5 oz each)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 Teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill weed or thyme
  • 1 (16 ounce) can salmon or 2 large salmon steaks cooked, boned and flaked
  • 2 cup milk, divided
  • 3 Tbsp flour
  • 1 cup cream

Direcciones

  1. In a dutch oven partially cook bacon. Add celery, onion, potatoes and carrots. Cook until done.
  2. Add broth, salt, paprika, dill or thyme ,garlic powder and pepper, bring to boil.
  3. Reduce heat add salmon and simmer for 15 min.
  4. Blend flour with 1/4 cup milk.
  5. Pour remaining milk and cream into Dutch oven. Stir in flour mixture.
  6. Cook until hot and slightly thickened, stirring often, for about 15 min.
