Savoury tart with ham

A potato crust with lovely filling, a little goes a long way

Note: make two... Freeze without baking the second one. You never know when it will come in handy with unexpected guests/ drama

Ingredientes

  • For the crust:
  • 1 cup mashed potatoes
  • 1/4 lb/ 110g butter
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 egg yolk, mixed with 1 tbsp water
  • The Filling:
  • 1 cup prepared white sauce
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded ham
  • 2 hard boiled eggs, shelled & chopped roughly
  • 3 tsp xhopped parsley
  • 1 tbsp chopped onion
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • S&P to taste

Direcciones

  1. Crust:
  2. Combine the potatoes, butter & dry ingredients
  3. Mix with the egg& water and line a deep greased pie dish,level
  4. Fill the crust and bake @ 350*f/180*C for 40 minutes
  5. Filling:
  6. Combine all except the milk and egg
  7. Reserve a little for topping up
  8. Pour into the pie shell
  9. Whisk the egg& milk and pour over the filling
  10. Bake as instructed
  11. Just before serving, use the last cheese and allow to just melt attracktively
