- Place potatoes, onions and butter in sufficient water to cover top of ingredients.
- Cook till potatoes are ALMOST done.
- Remove potatoes to a baking dish.
- Add in cheese to remaining liquid; let simmer until cheese is melted.
- Mix cornstarch in small amount of water until smooth. Add in to cheese sauce and stir until it thickens.
- Add in ham and green chile, pour over potatoes.
- Bake in 350 degree oven 30 min or possibly till sauce is bubbly and golden on top.
