%20you%20better%20be%20darned%20sure%20that%20you%20have%20identified%20the%20percolator%20correctly.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBefore%20I%20begin,%20let%20me%20first%20states%20that....%20%20%20Regardless%20of%20the%20recalls%20(and%20I%20use%20the%20plural%20because%20there%20were%20two)%20these%20percolators%20are%20still%20a%20Collectable%20Item.%20%20I,%20myself,%20who%20cannot%20stand%20percolated%20coffee,%20own%2019%20percolators%20of%20various%20models%20and%20patterns...%20(How's%20THAT%20for%20irony).%20%20I%20hardly%20ever%20use%20any%20of%20them,%20though%20I%20occasionally%20use%20my%20P-280-EP%20as%20a%20water%20boiler.%20%20(which%20was%20a%20recalled%20model%20BTW).%20%20The%20point%20is,%20that%20they%20are%20of%20paramount%20importance%20to%20collectors,%20intact.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%201st%20recall....%20%20%20%201976%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20was%20brought%20to%20Corning's%20attention%20in%201974,%20that%20there%20was%20an%20issue%20with%20the%20E-1210%20Electromatic%2010%20cup%20Percolator.%20%20The%20metal%20collar,%20which%20was%20attached%20with%20Epoxy,%20had%20a%20tendency%20to%20separate%20from%20the%20pyroceram%20pot%20after%20repeated%20heating%20&%20cooling%20cycles.%20%20Corning%20stopped%20production%20in%20September%20of%201974,%20redesigned%20the%20pot%20at%20the%20attachment%20point,%20improved%20their%20epoxy%20curing%20procedures,%20then%20returned%20the%20model%20to%20production.%20%20But,%20by%201976%20it%20had%20become%20apparent%20that%20the%20issue%20with%20these%20pots%20was%20a%20little%20more%20wide%20spread%20than%20originally%20predicted.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo,%20Corning%20issued%20a%20recall%20for%20the%20E-1210.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EONLY%20for%20the%20pots%20made%20before%20the%20redesign.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHow%20do%20you%20tell%20if%20you%20have%20an%20E-1210%20that%20is%20safe%20for%20use?%20%20There%20is%20a%20number%20etched%20on%20the%20metal%20band%20to%20the%20right%20of%20the%20handle....%20%20The%20numbers%20vary%20slightly,%20but%20ANY%20number%20means%20it%20is%20NOT%20a%20recalled%20pot.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20will%20repeat,%20NOT%20a%20recalled%20pot,%20NEVER%20was%20and%20NEVER%20would%20be,%20as%20you%20will%20see.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EProduction%20of%20Percolators%20dwindled%20off%20in%201978...%20Simply%20because%20the%20auto-drip%20coffee%20maker%20had%20taken%20over...%20%20After%20all,%20America%20was%20gearing%20up%20for%20the%2080s%20and%20it%20was%20all%20about%20instant%20satisfaction...%20Programming%20your%20coffee%20brewing%20to%20begin%2015%20minutes%20before%20your%20alarm%20went%20off%20so%20you%20could%20%22tumble%20from%20the%20bed,%20stumble%20to%20the%20kitchen%22%20and%20immediately%20%22pour%20yourself%20a%20cup%20of%20ambition%22%20was%20much%20preferable%20to%20setting%20up,%20and%20waiting%20for,%20the%20percolator%20while%20staring%20blearily%20at%20your%20newspaper.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%202nd%20recall.....%20%20%201979%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBy%201979,%20as%20more%20reports%20of%20separation%20came%20in,%20it%20had%20become%20apparent%20that%20the%20epoxy%20problem%20extended%20to%20more%20than%20just%20the%20E-1210%20pot.%20%20Thus,%20in%20September%20of%201979,%20a%20larger%20recall%20was%20issued,%20encompassing%201961-1976%20models%20(almost%20every%20model%20manufactured%20prior%20to%20the%20redesign%20of%20the%20E-1210%20in%201976)%20%20This%20recall%20encompassed%20not%20only%20the%20Electromatic%20Percolators,%20but%20the%20Stove%20Top%20models%20as%20well.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20the%20Recall%20that%20gets%20a%20bit%20tricky....%20Here%20is%20the%20list%20of%20the%20dangerous%20percolators.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELet%20me%20give%20you%20more%20of%20a%20visual,%20since%20most%20percolators%20don't%20have%20model%20numbers%20on%20them.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThese%20are%20the%20Recalled%20models........%20(NOTE:%20Every%20single%20one%20of%20them%20has%20a%20Stainless%20Steel%20rim)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EP-80-EP,%20P-280-EP,%20P-480-EP,%20W-80-EP%20(Cornflower,%20White,%20Platinum%20Filigree,%20Wheat)%20there%20were%20several%20other%20patterns%20that%20fell%20under%20the%20generic%20P-80-EP%20model%20number%20as%20well..%20%20Such%20as%20the%204%20special%20percolators%20French%20Spring,%20Tropical%20Summer,%20American%20Autumn,%20Nordic%20Winder,%20Avocado%20Medallion,%202nd%20&%203rd%20Edition%20Floral%20Bouquet%20etc.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EE-1210,%20E-1210-4,%20E-1210-8%20%20(All%20patterns%20of%20the%20E-1210%20without%20a%20serial%20%23)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECentura%20percolator%20C-609%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20have%20not%20been%20able%20to%20find%20any%20reference,%20aside%20from%20the%20documentation%20above,%20to%20a%20P-176%20or%20P-179%20Percolator.%20%20%20Thus%20I%20have%20no%20photos.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHere%20is%20the%20list%20of%20those%20NOT%20recalled.%20%20There%20are%20only%204%20Corning%20Ware%20Stove%20Top%20models%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eand%201%20Centura%20Stove%20Top%20models%20on%20this%20list%20along%20with%20the%20redesigned%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EE-1210%20and%20the%204%20weird%20looking%20Electromatic%20Percolat
