%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOur%20super%20talented%20blogger%20friend%20Valli%20@%20Spicing%20your%20life%20&%20Cooking4allseasons%20has%20started%20another%20blog%20event%20called%20'Cooking%20from%20Cookbook%20Challenge',%20so%20starting%20today%20a%20group%20of%20bloggers%20will%20be%20posting%20recipes%20on%20the%20weekend%20from%20cookbooks,%20recipes%20jotted%20down%20from%20cooking%20shows,%20paper%20clippings%20etc.%20Like%20everybody%20I%20have%20a%20ton%20of%20cookbooks,%205~6%20diaries%20filled%20with%20jotted%20down%20recipes%20from%20various%20sources,%20so%20I%20was%20thrilled%20when%20Valli%20announced%20this%20event.%20This%20will%20be%20a%20perfect%20way%20to%20try%20as%20many%20dishes%20as%20I%20can%20from%20my%20books%20and%20folders.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20the%20first%20week,%20I%20have%20a%20rich%20and%20creamy%20gravy%20curry%20that%20I%20made%20during%20the%20A-Z%20Andhra%20Dishes.%20I%20served%20it%20with%20Zafrani%20pulao%20and%20Kadhu%20ki%20Dalcha%20and%20it%20was%20a%20super%20hit%20at%20home.%20Recipe%20courtesy%20is%20a%20cooking%20show%20called%20'Just%20Cooking'%20n%20Maa%20Gold.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOriginal%20recipe%20had%20the%20arvi/%20colacassia%20deep%20fried,%20but%20I%20didn't%20see%20the%20need%20for%20deep%20frying.%20I%20shallow%20fried%20arvi%20in%20couple%20of%20tablespoons%20of%20oil%20and%20the%20end%20result%20was%20quite%20tasty.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMethod:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBoil%20arvi/%20taro%20root%20until%20fork%20tender,%20alternately%20Pressure%20cook%20for%201%20whistle.%20Peel%20and%20if%20using%20small%20arvi%20then%20leave%20them%20whole,%20otherwise%20chop%20them%20into%20large(ish)%20pieces.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHeat%202tbsp%20oil%20in%20a%20non-stick%20pan;%20add%20the%20boiled%20arvi%20and%20cook%20until%20they%20are%20golden%20brown%20all%20over.%20Alternately%20if%20you%20are%20not%20calorie%20conscious,%20then%20the%20pieces%20can%20be%20deep%20fried.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20mixing%20bowl,%20combine%20yogurt,%20red%20chili%20powder,%20ground%20coriander,%20garam%20masala%20and%20salt.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20the%20fried%20arvi%20to%20the%20yogurt%20mixture%20and%20set%20aside%20to%20marinate%20while%20you%20prepare%20the%20curry.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20the%20same%20pan,%20heat%201tbsp%20more%20oil;%20add%20the%20chopped%20onions%20and%20cook%20on%20medium%20flame%20until%20golden,%20about%208-10%20minutes.%20Remove%20from%20pan,%20let%20cool%20slightly.%20Then%20grind%20to%20a%20smooth%20paste.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20the%20same%20pan;%20heat%201tbsp%20oil%20and%20add%20the%20ground%20onion%20paste%20and%20ginger-garlic%20paste.%20Cook%20for%203-4%20minutes,%20stirring%20continuosly.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENext%20add%20the%20tomato%20puree%20and%20cook%20for%204-5%20minutes.%20Add%20ground%20cumin%20and%20almond%20butter,%20mix%20well%20and%20cook%20for%203%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20the%20marinated%20arvi%20along%20with%20the%20yogurt%20mixture%20and%201cup%20of%20water.%20Mix%20well,%20cover%20and%20cook%20until%20the%20gravy%20is%20creamy,%20about%2010~15%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGarnish%20with%20cream%20and%20cilantro%20leaves%20and%20serve%20with%20rice%20or%20roti.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20post%20is%20for%20the%20CC%20Challenge%20of%20the%20month.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
