.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFortunately%20this%20morning%20with%20the%20rain%20brought%20a%20brighter%20day%20after%20and%20I%20actually%20made%20it%20out%20of%20the%20house,%20albeit%20with%20my%20boyfriend%20driving%20and%20it%20was%20only%20to%20the%20garden%20centre%20but%20it%20was%20still%20nice%20to%20see%20daylight!%20Plus%20it%20has%20a%20great%20food%20hall%20and%20I%20picked%20up%20something%20for%20my%20dad's%20birthday%20which%20I%20better%20not%20write%20here%20just%20incase%20he%20reads%20this...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20enough%20of%20me%20rambling%20-%20I%20normally%20ask%20my%20boyfriend%20to%20choose%20at%20random%20but%20he%20was%20out%20and%20being%20unable%20to%20bend%20at%20the%20time%20I%20reduced%20my%20selection%20to%20the%20shelf%20at%20arm%20level%20and%20methodically%20counted%20to%20ten%20whilst%20moving%20my%20arm%20back%20and%20forth%20-%20the%20neighbours%20already%20know%20I%20am%20a%20bit%20special%20so%20hopefully%20just%20carried%20on%20by...%20the%20book%20turned%20out%20to%20be%20'Just%20like%20mother%20used%20to%20make'%20which%20my%20mum%20actually%20did%20buy%20for%20me%20a%20few%20years%20back.%20Its%20full%20of%20homely%20recipes%20but%20seems%20to%20solely%20be%20used%20for%20drop%20scones%20so%20it%20was%20about%20time%20a%20new%20recipe%20was%20tried%20from%20its%20floury%20pages!%20I%20then%20as%20per%20the%20chosen%20letter%20of%20A%20for%20this%20months%20theme,%20then%20closed%20my%20eyes%20and%20moved%20my%20finger%20up%20and%20down%20the%20tiny%20A%20section%20for%20a%20further%2010%20seconds%20and%20out%20came%20Baba%20Ganoush%20-%20which%20is%20technically%20B%20but%20its%20made%20with%20aubergines%20and%20listed%20under%20A%20so%20it%20became%20the%20chosen%20recipe!%20For%20some%20reason%20I%20have%20always%20loved%20the%20name%20Baba%20Ganoush,%20it%20sounds%20so%20exotic%20like%20some%20foreign%20dancer%20or%20stage%20presence!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20recipe%20itself%20is%20a%20doddle%20to%20make,%20apart%20from%20that%20I%20have%20the%20slowest%20oven%20in%20the%20world%20so%20took%20double%20the%20time%20stated%20but%20it%20was%20delicious.%20B%20had%20never%20eaten%20it%20before%20and%20in%20all%20honesty%20I%20wasn't%20sure%20if%20I%20had%20but%20I%20love%20anything%20aubergine'y%20so%20really%20it%20couldn't%20be%20bad...%20its%20best%20eaten%20with%20loved%20ones,%20the%20garlic%20breath%20is%20entirely%20worth%20it!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20scaled%20the%20original%20recipe%20down%20slightly%20-%20I%20always%20find%20aubergines%20vary%20so%20much%20in%20size%20-%20my%20dad%20actually%20picked%20it%20up%20for%20me%20as%20he%20lives%20near%20lots%20of%20great%20little%20ethnic%20grocers%20and%20was%20coming%20around%20for%20lunch%20-%20and%20assumed%20mine%20was%20a%20medium%20to%20large%20sized%20one%20and%20I%20have%20scaled%20the%20recipe%20accordingly.%20I%20also%20subbed%20the%20extra%20virgin%20olive%20oil%20for%20extra%20virgin%20rapeseed%20oil,%20mainly%20as%20the%20EVOO%20I%20have%20is%20very%20tasty%20but%20also%20very%20peppery%20and%20I%20wanted%20to%20taste%20the%20aubergine%20and%20the%20latter%20oil%20is%20nice%20and%20buttery%20tasting....mmm%20butter!%20And%20the%20lemon%20juice%20was%20from%20a%20bottle%20shh!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAlso%20whilst%20it%20says%20to%20use%20a%20food%20processor,%20I%20am%20lacking%20this%20one%20essential%20piece%20of%20technology%20and%20used%20the%20liquidiser%20which%20worked%20a%20treat%20-%20if%20using%20a%20food%20processor%20don't%20worry%20about%20chopping%20things%20up%20before%20hand.%20I%20finished%20it%20off%20with%20a%20little%20smoked%20paprika%20as%20it%20made%20the%20smoosh%20a%20bit%20more%20attractive%20and%20a%20little%20more%20smokier%20too!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMakes%20one%20bowl%20of%20lovely%20dip/%20puree/%20smoosh%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EEasy%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you%20are%20lucky%20enough%20to%20have%20a%20gas%20hob,%20sear%20the%20aubergine%20all%20over%20until%20skin%20is%20wrinkled.%20If%20like%20me%20you%20don't,%20place%20the%20whole%20aubergine%20in%20the%20oven,%20on%20its%20highest%20setting%20until%20the%20skin%20has%20wrinkled.%20The%20book%20claimed%2020%20minutes.%20Mine%20was%20more%2045%20minutes..%20and%20it%20burst,%20guessing%20that%20was%20a%20good%20sign%20it%20was%20ready..%20place%20in%20a%20bowl%20and%20cover,%20leave%20to%20cool.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOnce%20cooled,%20remove%20the%20skin%20and%20discard%20the%20stalk,%20chop%20roughly%20and%20place%20in%20the%20blender%20with%20everything%20else.%20Blitz%20to%20form%20a%20smooth%20puree.%20Taste%20and%20adjust%20accordingly%20-%20I%20added%20a%20little%20bit%20more%20lemon%20and%20salt%20to%20mine%20to%20taste.%20It%20says%20to%20leave%20it%2030%20minutes%20to%20thicken%20but%20my%20cooked%20aubergine%20had%20been%20left%20whilst%20out%20for%20a%20good%20few%20hours%20and%20I%20served%20it%20up%20after%20about%205%20minutes%20and%20was%20perfect%20for%20us!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESpoon%20the%20mixture%20into%20a%20serving%20bowl%20and%20sprinkle%20over%20a%20little%20smoked%20paprika%20if%20desired.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20served%20ours%20with%20a%20little%20fridge%20raid%20feast%20-%20toasted%20pitta%20breads,%20olives,%20rosebud%20beetroots%20and%20carrot%20sticks.%20B%20loved%20it,%20he%20did%20comment%20that%20this%20meal%20would%20be%20something%20he%20would%20never%20had%20considered%20before%20meeting%20me.%20I%20guess%20thats%20a%20good%20compliment!%20It%20was%20clean%20plates%20all%20round%20after!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOverall%20verdict?%20A%20resounding%20yes%20to%20enjoying%20it%20now%20and%20yes%20to%20having%20it%20again!%20I%20loved%20its%20silky%20smooth%20texture%20and%20little%20hum%20of%20lemon%20and%20garlic,%20definitely%20a%20keeper.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMany%20thanks%20to%20this%20months%20hosts%20for%20the%20inspiration%20to%20give%20some%20love%20back%20to%20the%20cookbooks:%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
