.%20New%20and%20new-to-us%20appliances,%20barely%20used%20or%20loved%20%E2%80%93%20until%20now.%20I%20have%20a%20brand-new%20stove%20and%20chest%20freezer%20%E2%80%93%20the%20thrill!%20The%20chest%20freezer%20has%20gotten%20its%20love%20and%20is%20slowly%20accumulating%20frozen%20meats,%20unbaked%20baguettes%20and%20the%20remainder%20of%20my%20birthday%20DQ%20icecream%20cake.%20(Don%E2%80%99t%20hate.)%20And%20the%20range%20has%20gotten%20more%20than%20its%20share%20so%20far%20with%20plenty%20of%20saut%C3%A9ing,%20pan-frying%20and%20water-boiling%20going%20on.%20But%20the%20oven%E2%80%A6%20the%20poor,%20neglected%20oven%20has%20yet%20to%20experience%20any%20baked%20goods,%20so%20far%20serving%20only%20to%20warm%20leftovers%20or%20food-gifts%20for%20a%20large%20family%20supper.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20wanted%20a%20recipe%20that%20would%20showcase%20my%20appreciation%20for%20this%20new%20appliance%20in%20my%20home,%20something%20that%20would%20fill%20the%20house%20with%20warmth%20and%20love.%20A%20banana%20nut%20bread%20thought%20popped%20up,%20but%20alas%20%E2%80%93%20no%20nuts%20in%20the%20house.%20A%20desire%20for%20popovers%20popped%20up%20one%20morning,%20but%20I%20can%E2%80%99t%20seem%20to%20find%20my%20regular%20muffin%20tins.%20Breads%20are%20intended,%20but%20mostly%20for%20freezing%20and%20baking%20later,%20and%20besides,%20we%20don%E2%80%99t%20need%20fresh%20bread%20right%20now.%20No%20other%20recipe%20spoke%20to%20me.%20What%20recipe%20would%20share%20that%20feeling%20I%20wanted%20in%20my%20house,%20the%20homey%20loving%20wanted%20feeling?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOf%20course.%20How%20could%20I%20be%20so%20silly?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPound%20cake.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBy%20now,%20you%20must%20think%20my%20world%20revolves%20around%20pound%20cake.%20Three%20recipes%20flitting%20around?%20I%20have%20to%20be%20obsessed.%20Not%20really.%20There%E2%80%99s%20just%20nothing%20simpler,%20more%20comforting%20or%20more%20versatile%20than%20pound%20cake.%20My%20wedding%20cake%20was%20pound%20cake%20(then%20again,%20most%20large%20bakery%20recipes%20are,%20in%20some%20form%20or%20fashion).%20It%20can%20be%20plain,%20flavored,%20ganached%20or%20glazed,%20topped%20with%20buttercream%20or%20flowers%20or%20berries%20and%20cream%20and%20it%20still%20tastes%20awesome.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENothing%20against%20Great-great-great%20Grandpa%20Fulghum,%20but%20I%20just%20didn%E2%80%99t%20have%20time%20for%20a%20massive%20pound%20cake%20undertaking.%20I%20wanted%20it%20now.%20I%20had%20four%20brand-new%20baby%20bundts%20I%20wanted%20to%20use,%20and%20I%20didn%E2%80%99t%20want%20to%20keep%20filling%20and%20refilling%20them%20all%20night.%20So%20I%20searched%20through%20all%20those%20files%20I%20keep%20bookmarked%20on%20Delicious%20and%20came%20up%20with%20a%20recipe%20from%20food%20is%20luv.%20Perfect%20pound%20cake.%20And%20I%20thought,%20%E2%80%9Cwell,%20let%E2%80%99s%20give%20it%20a%20go.%E2%80%9D%20So%20I%20did.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EKeep%20in%20mind,%20however,%20that%20this%20is%20one%20of%20those%20recipes%20which%20cannot%20be%20completely%20successfully%20replicated%20without%20all%20the%20proper%20ingredients.%20I%20had%20to%20substitute%20%E2%80%93%20where%20we%20are%20now%20does%20not%20allow%20for%20%E2%80%9Crunning%20out%E2%80%9D%20to%20the%20store,%20necessarily%20%E2%80%93%20all-purpose%20and%20cornstarch%20for%20cake%20flour,%20and%20while%20my%20cakes%20were%20good,%20they%20were%20not%20as%20dense%20as%20I%20would%20have%20liked.%20The%20crumb,%20however,%20was%20perfect.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDirections:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EButter%20and%20flour%20four%206%E2%80%9D%20bundts.%20Whisk%20together%20flour,%20cornstarch%20and%20salt;%20set%20aside.%20Whisk%20together%20cream%20and%20vanilla;%20set%20aside.%20In%20an%20electric%20mixer%20or%20separate%20mixing%20bowl,%20cream%20sugar%20and%20butter%20until%20pale,%20light%20and%20fluffy.%20Add%20the%20eggs%20and%20yolk,%20one%20at%20a%20time,%20making%20sure%20each%20one%20is%20incorporated.%20Add%20flour%20in%20three%20batches,%20alternating%20with%20cream,%20beginning%20with%20flour%20and%20ending%20with%20flour.%20Mix%20so%20that%20everything%20is%20well%20incorporated%20but%20don%E2%80%99t%20overmix.%20Pour%20or%20spoon%20batter%20into%20bundts,%20filling%20to%20half,%20put%20bundts%20on%20a%20baking%20sheet%20and%20set%20on%20middle%20rack%20of%20a%20cold%20oven.%20Bake%20at%20350%C2%B0F%20for%2050-60%20minutes,%20until%20crumb%20has%20formed%20and%20tester%20comes%20out%20clean.%20Cool%20in%20pan%20on%20wire%20racks%20for%205-10%20minutes,%20then%20invert%20and%20let%20cool%20completely.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMakes%206-8%20mini-bundts.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOh,%20by%20the%20way%20%E2%80%93%20definitely%20don%E2%80%99t%20overfill%20these.%20In%20a%20studious%20stupor,%20I%20filled%20mine%20to%20the%20top%20and%20was%20rewarded%20with%20mini-bundt%20toadstools.%20Cute%20if%20presented%20properly,%20and%20still%20super%20tasty,%20but%20if%20you%20want%20to%20showcase%20the%20bundt%20shape,%20no%20toadstools%20for%20you.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%
