.%20%20We%20raced%20down%20the%20windy%20streets%20at%20crazy%20speeds%20and%20came%20home%20muddy%20and%20exhausted.%20%20I%20want%20to%20do%20that%20every%20day.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFood%20was%20never%20far%20away,%20and%20I%20found%20incredible%20peace%20cooking%20simply:%20a%20skillet%20apple%20pie,%20hot%20toddies,%20roasted%20Brussels%20Sprouts%20and%20potatoes,%20a%20breakfast%20of%20steak%20and%20eggs,%20and%20a%20little%20improvised%20concoction%20I%E2%80%99m%20calling%20Spicy%20Mexican%20Mulled%20Red%20Wine%20Cocoa,%20that%20kept%20us%20warm%20and%20dizzy%20as%20we%20toasted%20by%20the%20fire.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWarming,%20sweet%20and%20pungent,%20it%20was%20inspired%20by%20Paul%20A.%20Young%E2%80%99s%20Adventures%20in%20Chocolate.%20%20I%20saw%20his%20demo%20at%20the%20NY%20Chocolate%20Show%20and%20fell%20in%20love%20with%20his%20recipe.%20%20I%E2%80%99ll%20be%20making%20it%20soon%20in%20full%20at%20my%20holiday%20dinner.%20%20But%20for%20this%20trip%20I%20merely%20used%20what%20I%20had%20%E2%80%93%20some%20crushed%20Mexican%20chocolate%20I%20had%20spiced%20up%20for%20an%20article,%20a%20good%20bottle%20of%20red%20wine,%20some%20dark%20chocolate%20left%20over%20from%20S%E2%80%99Mores%20and%20some%20decaffeinated%20tea%20bags%20that%20were%20seasonally%20spicy.%20%20The%20result%20was%20rich,%20warming%20and%20festive%20%E2%80%93%20perfect%20when%20the%20sun%20went%20down%20early%20and%20the%20darkness%20brought%20on%20a%20bitter%20chill%20the%20weekend%20before%20Thanksgiving.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECousin%20Maria%20and%20Mitra%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDusty%20Bro%20at%20the%20%22stove%22%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMe%20cooking%20(Maria%20playing%20with%20my%20camera)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMother%20Gaia%20in%20a%20plastic%20cup%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESpicy%20Mexican%20Mulled%20Red%20Wine%20Cocoa%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPrepare%20in%20Advance:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECrush%20two%20disks%20of%20Mexican%20chocolate%20into%20a%20fine%20powder.%20%20Add%20a%20dash%20or%20two%20of%20cayenne%20pepper,%20two%20dashes%20of%20cinnamon%20and%20a%20dash%20of%20nutmeg.%20%20Preserve%20in%20an%20air-tight%20container.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBring%20on%20the%20trip:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMethod:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20the%20saucepan,%20combine%20the%20cocoa%20and%20enough%20water%20to%20just%20dissolve%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPut%20the%20saucepan%20on%20heat,%20and%20add%20enough%20wine%20to%20cover%20the%20bottom%20of%20the%20pan.%20%20Heat%20to%20steaming.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20teabags,%20and%20let%20infuse%20for%20about%2015%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemove%20teabags,%20add%20the%20chocolate%20(chopped)%20and%20stir%20until%20it%20dissolves.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20the%20rest%20of%20the%20wine,%20and%20bring%20up%20to%20a%20steam%20(don%E2%80%99t%20simmer,%20as%20you%20want%20to%20keep%20the%20alcohol%20in!)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServe%20and%20enjoy%20around%20a%20blazing%20fire.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
