%20And%20some%20friends%20of%20mine%20threw%20a%20lovely,%20fun%20baby%20shower%20for%20me,%20and%20everyone%20spoiled%20me%20rotten.%20I%20have%20really%20great%20friends.%20Many%20of%20them%20are%20my%20co-workers,%20as%20well,%20which%20makes%20things%20even%20more%20fun.%20I%20was%20giddy.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBut%20giddiness%20is%20exhausting.%20Aside%20from%20wrapping%20things%20in%20bacon%20on%20Monday,%20I%20didn't%20really%20cook%20this%20week,%20opting%20instead%20to%20come%20home%20from%20work%20and%20sleep%20in%20my%20recliner.%20The%20hubby%20brought%20me%20food.%20And%20flowers.%20(%22Aw,%20you%20brought%20me%20roses?%20And%20a%20chicken!%22)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20today,%20we%20made%20up%20for%20lost%20time%20and%20cooked%20a%20surf%20'n'%20turf%20feast%20for%20the%20hubby's%20mom%20and%20sister.%20The%20hubby%20was%20in%20charge%20of%20the%20steak,%20snow%20crab,%20and%20salad,%20while%20I%20took%20care%20of%20the%20strawberry-rhubarb%20pie,%20roasted%20garlic%20smashed%20potatoes,%20and%20cheddar-garlic%20biscuits%20(more%20recipes%20to%20follow).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhy%20yes,%20we%20do%20this%20every%20Saturday%20at%2011:45%20a.m.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOr%20maybe%20not.%20The%20hubby%20had%20never%20had%20really%20fresh-steamed%20snow%20crab%20before,%20but%20was%20intrigued%20by%20them,%20so%20we%20decided%20to%20give%20it%20a%20go.%20There%20are%20a%20variety%20of%20cooking%20methods%20for%20snow%20crab%20--%20steaming,%20boiling,%20baking,%20and%20grilling,%20to%20name%20a%20few.%20We%20chose%20steaming%20because,%20well,%20everyone%20on%20the%20interweb%20seemed%20to%20recommend%20it.%20And%20it%20was%20fast%20and%20seemed%20foolproof.You%20should%20be%20able%20to%20find%20frozen%20snow%20crab%20clusters%20at%20your%20local%20supermarket.%20They're%20precooked,%20so%20all%20you%20really%20need%20to%20do%20when%20cooking%20them%20is%20to%20heat%20them%20through.%20But%20they%20do%20tend%20to%20lose%20flavor%20as%20soon%20as%20they're%20thawed.%20We%20left%20ours%20frozen%20until%20about%20a%20half-hour%20before%20we%20were%20going%20to%20steam%20them;%20then%20we%20ran%20them%20under%20some%20water%20to%20melt%20off%20the%20ice.%20Then%20into%20the%20steamer%20basket%20they%20went.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20results%20were%20excellent,%20or%20so%20I'm%20told%20(I%20don't%20eat%20seafood).%20But%20we%20had%20ourselves%20a%20nice%20little%20party,%20complete%20with%20seafood%20crackers,%20little%20seafood%20forks,%20and%20lots%20o'%20garlic-infused%20lemon%20butter.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20then%20we%20napped.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESteamed%20Snow%20Crab%20Legs%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServes%204%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1.%20Heat%20water%20to%20boiling%20in%20a%20pot%20with%20a%20steamer%20insert.%20Add%20salt.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2.%20Meanwhile,%20heat%20butter%20and%20garlic%20in%20a%20small%20saucepan%20over%20medium-low%20heat.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThese%20are%20huge,%20by%20the%20way%20--%20much%20bigger%20than%20I%20was%20expecting.%20And%20also%20a%20lot%20longer%20than%20our%20steamer%20basket.%20You%20might%20have%20to%20bend%20the%20claws%20inward,%20like%20a%20giant%20skeletal%20hand,%20to%20make%20them%20fit.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20found%20this%20a%20bit%20creepy.%20But%20we%20moved%20on.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E4.%20Add%20crab%20clusters%20to%20steamer%20basket%20insert,%20and%20steam%20about%205%20to%207%20minutes,%20until%20heated%20through.%20(We%20went%20with%207,%20because%20we%20hadn't%20thawed%20our%20clusters%20for%20very%20long.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E5.%20Remove%20butter%20from%20heat.%20Remove%20garlic%20clove,%20and%20squeeze%20two%20lemon%20wedges%20into%20butter.%20Stir%20and%20pour%20into%20serving%20dishes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E6.%20Serve%20crab%20with%20melted%20butter%20and%20additional%20lemon%20wedges.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
