,%20and%20it%20was%20super%20popular%20but%20a%20few%20weeks%20later,%20a%20few%20odd%20things%20lying%20around%20post%20Christmas%20and%20the%20creative%20brain%20cells%20kicked%20in%20and%20I%20tweaked%20the%20recipe%20into%20a%20Sticky%20Toffee%20Orange%20Pudding,%20and%20I%20must%20admit%20it%20is%20glorious%20and%20the%20little%20bit%20of%20orange%20just%20lifts%20it%20into%20something%20heavenly!%20It%20is%20not%20at%20all%20diet%20friendly%20and%20never%20will%20be%20but%20you%20can%20eat%20in%20moderation.%20It%20is%20not%20for%20those%20lacking%20a%20sweet%20tooth!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20dates%20as%20always%20are%20bought%20from%20a%20late%20night%20grocery%20kinda%20place%20near%20my%20dad,%20Turkish%20owned.%20They%20are%20gorgeously%20gooey,%20almost%20toffee%20like%20on%20their%20own.%20Sue%20recommends%20blending%20the%20fruit%20mixture%20but%20I%20skip%20this%20stage%20as%20they%20go%20all%20lovely%20and%20smoodgy%20on%20their%20own.%20If%20you%20have%20regular%20dates%20and%20it%20doesn't%20look%20puree%20like%20then%20by%20all%20means%20blitz%20them.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOur%20ovens%20thermometer%20is%20still%20slacking%20but%20I%20guess%20approx.%20180/160%20fan%20in%20a%20working%20oven!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMakes%20one%20brownie%20sized%20tray%20-%208x8inch%20ish.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E175g%20dates,%20stoned%20and%20chopped%20-%20buy%20the%20best%20you%20can!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20the%20stoned,%20chopped%20dates,%20mixed%20fruit%20and%20teabag%20in%20a%20bowl.%20Pour%20over%20the%20boiling%20water%20and%20steep%20for%20ten%20minutes,%20discard%20the%20teabag.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EZest%20a%202%20inch%20piece%20of%20the%20orange%20and%20put%20to%20one%20side%20-%20before%20you%20cut%20in%20half!%20Add%20half%20the%20juice%20to%20the%20fruit%20mixture.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPre-heat%20oven%20to%20180o.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGrease%20a%208%20inch%20square%20tin%20(I%20swear%20by%20Dr%20Oetker%20Cake%20Release!)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EInstructions%20based%20on%20a%20stand%20mixer:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECream%20together%20the%20butter%20and%20sugar%20in%20the%20mixer.%20Sift%20the%20flour%20and%20bicarb%20together.%20Add%20a%20little%20egg%20to%20the%20butter%20sugar%20mix,%20then%20a%20little%20of%20the%20flour%20mix,%20repeat%20in%20two%20more%20stages.%20Beat%20in%20the%20milk%20last,%20then%20fold%20in%20the%20prepared%20fruit%20mixture.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPour%20the%20batter%20into%20the%20prepared%20tin%20and%20level.%20Bake%20in%20the%20middle%20for%2035-40%20minutes%20or%20until%20it%20springs%20back%20to%20touch%20and%20a%20skewer%20removes%20clean.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMeanwhile%20make%20the%20sauce%20-%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHeat%20in%20a%20medium%20saucepan%20the%20butter,%20sugar%20and%20half%20of%20the%20cream%20until%20nicely%20mixed%20and%20the%20sugars%20dissolved,%20when%20boiling%20add%20the%20treacle%20and%20remaining%20orange%20juice%20and%20gently%20bubble%20for%20about%204-5%20minutes%20or%20until%20starting%20to%20thicken,%20remove%20from%20the%20heat%20and%20stir%20in%20the%20cream.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOh%20to%20bathe%20in%20sauce!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20the%20cake%20is%20cooked,%20stab%20the%20surface%20with%20a%20skewer%20and%20gently%20pour%20over%20a%20little%20sauce%20too%20fill%20the%20holes,%20allowing%20it%20to%20sink%20in%20until%20you%20have%20used%20just%20under%20half.%20Keep%20the%20rest%20to%20serve%20with%20the%20pudding%20and%20allow%20to%20rest%20for%20at%20least%2015%20minutes%20before%20eating,%20with%20more%20sauce!!%20Sprinkle%20over%20the%20reserved%20zest.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EEating%20time!!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20is%20undeniably%20rich,%20and%20sweet%20but%20has%20everything%20a%20good%20baked%20pudding%20needs!%20You%20could%20easily%20add%20a%20swirl%20of%20custard%20or%20scoop%20of%20vanilla%20ice%20cream%20too%20accompany%20this%20and%20the%20sauce%20alone%20is%20worth%20making,%20the%20gentle%20orange%20hint%20makes%20it%20fabulous!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAs%20my%20pudding%20used%20up%20a%20leftover%20Christmas%20orange%20(from%20making%20red%20cabbage%20-%20we%20don't%20eat%20oranges),%20a%20long%20neglected%20tin%20of%20treacle%20and%20a%20carton%20of%20just-gone-by-due-by-date%20cream%20donated%20by%20a%20bemused%20friend%20I%20am%20sending%20this%20over%20to%20Elizabeth's%20Kitchen%20Diary%20No%20Waste%20Food%20Challenge,%20one%20that%20I%20firmly%20believe%20in%20too%20-%20I%20hate%20waste%20and%20always%20get%20upset%20even%20over%20tiny%20amounts%20of%20food!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMany%20thanks%20again%20to%20Sue%20for%20letting%20me%20play%20around%20with%20her%20lovely%20recipe%20and%20I%20hope%20you%20like%20my%20version%20of%20it%20too!!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
