Strawberries Preserved In Dark Rum

Ingredientes

  • 1 kg strawberries
  • 300 gm sugar (caster)
  • 100 ml water
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1 lt rum

Direcciones

  1. Wash and drain the strawberries.
  2. Bring sugar to boil with the water, lemon juice and vanilla, stirring continuously. Cook for about 3 min and leave to cold. Add in the rum while still hot.
  3. Put the strawberries into preserving jars in layers and pour over the syrup to cover. Seal the jars and leave to stand 5 weeks.
  4. Keeps for 3-4 months.
  5. Ensure storage jars are well sterilised.
