%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20read%20on%20my%20friend%20the%20%22other%22%20Marie's%20page%20that%20according%20to%20Harold%20Camping,%20the%20world%20is%20supposed%20to%20end%20today%20at%206%20PM.%20I%20don't%20know%20if%20that%20is%20Greenwich%20Mean%20Time,%20or%20Mountain%20Time%20or%20what%20time%20.%20.%20.%20but,%20well%20.%20.%20.%20you%20know%20how%20those%20things%20go!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnyways,%20I%20got%20to%20thinking%20if%20the%20world%20really%20was%20going%20to%20end%20today,%20I%20wanted%20to%20go%20out%20with%20my%20tummy%20filled%20with%20delicious%20things%20.%20.%20.%20things%20like%20fish%20and%20chips,%20and%20chocolate,%20albeit%20not%20eaten%20at%20exactly%20the%20same%20time,%20and%20possibly%20a%20steak%20and%20a%20baked%20potato,%20a%20slice%20of%20pizza%20or%20two,%20a%20couple%20pieces%20of%20fried%20chicken%20.%20.%20.%20(I%20know,%20I'm%20a%20glutton)%20and%20a%20big%20piece%20of%20pie!%20A%20la%20Mode,%20please.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStrawberry%20and%20Rhubarb%20Pie%20is%20one%20of%20my%20favourites%20and%20I%20just%20happened%20to%20pick%20up%20a%20couple%20of%20punnets%20of%20fresh%20English%20Strawberries%20at%20the%20grocery%20store%20yesterday.%20However%20did%20I%20know%20that%20the%20world%20was%20going%20to%20end%20today%20and%20that%20I%20would%20need%20to%20make%20a%20pie???%20Call%20it%20intuition,%20I%20guess.%20Scary!!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnyways,%20we%20ate%20one%20punnet%20of%20them%20together,%20the%20Toddster%20and%20I%20.%20.%20.%20sat%20next%20to%20each%20other%20on%20the%20sofa%20armed%20with%20a%20tiny%20bowl%20of%20sugar%20and%20paper%20towels.%20Oh%20my%20.%20.%20.%20one%20just%20cannot%20beat%20the%20taste%20of%20a%20fresh%20English%20Strawberry%20in%20season.%20They%20were%20so%20sweet%20and%20yummy,%20we%20did%20not%20even%20need%20the%20sugar%20.%20.%20.%20but%20juicy%20enough%20that%20we%20did%20need%20the%20paper%20towels.%20Strawberry%20Heaven%20for%20sure.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20had%20in%20mind%20to%20make%20a%20lovely%20sponge%20filled%20with%20berries%20with%20the%20rest,%20but%20then%20.%20.%20.%20when%20I%20heard%20of%20the%20imminent%20demise%20of%20the%20world%20.%20.%20.%20I%20knew%20that%20nothing%20but%20a%20pie%20would%20do.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20this%20is%20a%20lovely%20pie,%20smelling%20and%20tasting%20of%20spring.%20If%20ya%20gotta%20go,%20this%20is%20the%20only%20way%20to%20go!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20had%20mine%20neat%20.%20.%20.%20with%20some%20ice%20cream%20.%20.%20.%20but%20that%20Todd.%20He%20had%20his%20with%20custard.%20You%20just%20cannot%20teach%20an%20old%20dog%20new%20tricks,%20even%20if%20the%20end%20is%20nigh%20.%20.%20.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E*Strawberry%20Rhubarb%20Pie*%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Emakes%20one%209-inch%20pie%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStrawberries%20and%20rhubarb%20are%20a%20beautiful%20marriage%20of%20springtime/early%20summer%20flavours!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20the%20oven%20to%20220*C/425*F/%20gas%20mark%207.%20Roll%20out%20half%20of%20the%20pastry%20in%20a%20round%20large%20enough%20to%20line%20a%209-inch%20pie%20dish,%20allowing%20for%20an%20overhang.%20Line%20the%20bottom%20of%20the%20dish%20with%20pastry.%20Place%20on%20a%20baking%20sheet.%20Set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECombine%20the%20fruit,%20sugar%20and%20flower%20in%20a%20bowl,%20mixing%20all%20together%20well.%20Pour%20into%20the%20prepared%20pie%20crust.%20Dot%20with%20the%20butter.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERoll%20the%20remainder%20of%20the%20pastry%20out%20into%20a%20round.%20Cut%20into%20strips%20and%20lay%20over%20the%20top%20of%20the%20fruit%20in%20a%20lattice%20pattern.%20Trim%20and%20flute%20the%20edges.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBake%20in%20the%20preheated%20oven%20for%2010%20minutes.%20Reduce%20the%20heat%20to%20180*C/350*F/%20gas%20mark%204%20for%20an%20additional%2030%20to%2035%20minutes%20until%20the%20filling%20is%20bubbling%20and%20the%20crust%20is%20nicely%20browned.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20on%20a%20wire%20rack%20to%20cool%20and%20serve%20slightly%20warm%20and%20cut%20into%20wedges.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you'd%20like%20to%20know%20an%20easy%20way%20to%20make%20a%20lattice%20crust%20check%20out%20this%20video%20below.%20I%20used%20my%20handy%20lattice%20cutter%20for%20mine,%20but%20I%20wish%20I%20had%20done%20it%20in%20the%20traditional%20way.%20I've%20never%20been%20able%20to%20make%20it%20come%20out%20quite%20as%20nice%20using%20the%20cutter.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPS%20-%20I%20really%20hope%20I%20am%20here%20tomorrow%20to%20cook%20and%20eat%20again%20.%20.%20.%20but%20just%20in%20case%20none%20of%20us%20are%20.%20.%20.%20I%20hope%20ya%20know%20I%20had%20a%20good%20time!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
