%20I%20decided%20that%20the%20best%20thing%20to%20do%20would%20be%20to%20bake%20and%20decorate%20a%20couple%20cupcakes!%20I%20thought%20long%20and%20hard%20about%20what%20type%20of%20cupcakes%20I%20wanted%20to%20make...%20and%20for%20some%20reason%20I%20was%20craving%20just%20an%20old%20fashioned%20vanilla%20cupcake.%20I%20also%20knew%20I%20wanted%20to%20use%20fondant%20to%20decorate%20the%20cupcakes...%20but%20the%20tricky%20part%20was%20figuring%20out%20what%20theme%20I%20wanted%20the%20cupcakes%20to%20take%20on!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAfter%20scouring%20google%20for%20a%20solid%20half-hour%20I%20decided%20that%20since%20my%20dad%20and%20mom%20both%20love%20sushi%20(and%20we%20always%20go%20out,%20just%20the%20three%20of%20us,%20to%20all-you-can-eat%20late-night%20sushi%20once%20a%20month)%20that%20sushi-themed%20cupcakes%20were%20most%20definitely%20the%20way%20to%20go!%20So,%20I%20got%20to%20work%20baking%20the%20cupcakes,%20allowing%20them%20to%20cool,%20rolling%20out%20the%20fondant%20(I%20used%20Wilton's%20pre-made%20white%20fondant%20and%20simply%20dyed%20it%20into%20the%20colors%20I%20wanted)%20and%20slapping%20the%20cupcakes%20together.%20Ooooh,%20I%20simply%20love%20playing%20with%20the%20fondant!%20It's%20like%20making%20sculptures%20with%20play-doh...%20brings%20back%20such%20fond%20childhood%20memories%20%5E_%5E%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EVanilla%20Cupcake%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYields%2012%20cupcakes%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMethod:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1.%20Sift%20together%20the%20flour,%20baking%20powder%20and%20salt.%20Set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2.%20Cream%20sugar%20and%20butter%20until%20soft%20and%20fluffy.%20Add%20in%20eggs%20one%20and%20a%20time,%20beating%20well%20after%20each%20addition.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E3.%20Combine%20the%20milk%20and%20vanilla%20in%20a%20small%20bowl.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E4.%20Add%20half%20of%20the%20flour%20mixture%20to%20the%20butter%20mixture.%20Stir%20until%20just%20moistened.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E5.%20Add%20in%20the%20milk%20mixture%20and%20continue%20stirring,%20only%20until%20just%20combined%20(do%20not%20over-mix).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E6.%20Add%20in%20the%20final%20half%20of%20the%20flour%20mixture;%20again,%20stir%20until%20just%20combined.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E7.%20Pour%20into%20a%20prepared%20muffin%20tray%20and%20bake%20at%20350degrees%20for%2024-28minutes,%20until%20golden.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E8.%20Allow%20to%20cool%20completely%20and%20then%20decorate.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAhi%20tuna%20nigiri%20and%20an%20Akagai%20(red%20clam)%20nigiri%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYour%20classic%20sushi%20roll%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EEbi%20(shrimp)%20nigiri%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIkura%20(salmon%20roe)%20roll%20and%20a%20Toro%20(fatty%20tuna)%20nigiri%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWell,%20when%20I%20unveiled%20these%20cuties%20to%20my%20mom%20and%20dad%20(and%20my%20sisters)%20they%20were%20so%20surprised%20at%20the%20intricate%20details...%20namely%20the%20tiny%20blobs%20of%20ginger%20and%20wasabi.%20However,%20since%20these%20cupcakes%20had%20so%20much%20effort%20put%20in%20to%20their%20decoration,%20my%20mom%20didn't%20want%20to%20touch%20them%20for%20fear%20of%20%22breaking%22%20them,%20my%20dad%20was%20busy%20taking%20pictures.%20and%20my%20sisters%20didn't%20want%20to%20eat%20them%20because%20they%20were%20%22too%20cute%22.%20Alas,%20why%20did%20I%20make%20them%20so%20adorable%20that%20everyone%20was%20scared%20to%20take%20a%20bite??%20Oh,%20well...%20I%20wasn't%20scared,%20so%20I%20dug%20in...%20and%20they%20were%20just%20as%20delicious%20as%20they%20were%20well-decorated!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
