slid%20through%20my%20mail%20box%20onto%20my%20front%20hall%20floor,%20and%20I%20saw%20it's%20cover,%20I%20just%20knew%20I%20had%20to%20make%20this%20recipe!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECalling%20something%20the%20%22World's%20Best%20Crumble%22%20is%20quite%20a%20bold%20statement%20to%20make%20and%20I%20have%20to%20say%20that%20the%20cover%20certainly%20had%20a%20very%20scrummy%20looking%20crumble%20on%20it!%20(I%20have%20to%20say%20that%20Delicious%20is%20one%20of%20my%20favourite%20three%20cooking%20mags%20over%20here,%20right%20up%20there%20with%20Good%20Food%20and%20Sainsbury's.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThey%20are%20declaring%20the%2024th%20of%20September%20as%20%22Share%20The%20Love%22%20day,%20and%20suggest%20that%20to%20be%20a%20part%20of%20it%20we%20all%20bake%20two%20apple%20crumbles%20instead%20of%20one,%20keep%20one%20to%20eat%20and%20then%20pass%20the%20other%20on%20to%20someone%20you%20don't%20know,%20someone%20you%20wish%20you%20knew%20better,%20or%20someone%20who%20needs%20cheering%20up!%20Not%20a%20problem%20for%20me,%20as%20I%20am%20always%20sharing%20MY%20baking%20love%20with%20someone!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20baked%20this%20delicious%20crumble%20today%20and%20divided%20it%20amongst%20two%20containers,%20with%20just%20enough%20in%20each%20for%20Todd%20and%20I%20to%20enjoy%20two%20servings%20each%20of%20it's%20deliciousness%20and%20for%20a%20friend%20in%20need%20and%20her%20carer%20to%20share%20some%20of%20it's%20deliciousness%20as%20well.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20crumble%20is%20pretty%20amazing%20to%20be%20sure,%20but%20.%20.%20.%20you%20know%20how%20it%20is%20.%20.%20.%20I%20just%20had%20to%20make%20some%20revisions,%20and%20I%20am%20declaring%20them,%20here%20and%20now,%20even%20better%20than%20the%20original!%20I%20added%20more%20spice%20to%20the%20fruit.%20Their%20version%20called%20only%20for%20cloves%20and%20ginger.%20I%20added%20some%20cinnamon%20and%20nutmeg.%20They%20also%20had%20chopped%20skin%20on%20almonds%20in%20the%20crumble%20topping%20.%20.%20.%20I%20think%20the%20flavour%20of%20buttery%20toasty%20oats%20cannot%20be%20beat,%20and%20so%20I%20substituted%20the%20nuts%20with%20oats.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOh%20my,%20this%20was%20deliciously%20scrummy!%20(no%20pun%20intended!)%20The%20tartness%20of%20the%20fruit,%20all%20spicy%20and%20slightly%20sweet%20.%20.%20.%20the%20colour%20.%20.%20.%20ruby%20and%20deep%20purple%20.%20.%20.%20the%20moreishly%20tasty%20pockets%20of%20marzipan%20which%20melts%20down%20into%20all%20that%20ruby%20tart/sweet%20goodness%20.%20.%20.%20and%20that%20buttery%20oaty%20crumble%20topping%20.%20.%20.%20G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S!!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you%20only%20make%20one%20crumble%20this%20autumn%20(and%20you%20really%20should)%20let%20it%20be%20this%20one.%20Seriously.%20It%20is%20the%20world's%20best!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E*The%20World's%20Best%20Crumble*%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServes%206%20to%208%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAccording%20to%20Delicious%20Magazine,%20this%20is%20the%20World's%20Best%20Crumble.%20I%20changed%20a%20few%20things.%20I%20added%20more%20spice%20to%20the%20fruit%20and%20I%20substituted%20the%20skin%20on%20almonds%20in%20the%20topping%20for%20rolled%20oats.%20My%20changes%20will%20be%20reflected%20in%20brackets.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAll%20in%20all%20though,%20I%20would%20say%20this%20is%20one%20very%20scrummy%20crumble!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20the%20oven%20to%20200*C/400*F/%20gas%20mark%206.%20Peel,%20core%20and%20dice%20all%20of%20the%20apples.%20Place%20into%20a%20large%20baking%20dish.%20(1.6%20litre%20or%202%20quarts)%20Squeeze%20the%20lemon%20juice%20over%20all.%20Stir%20together%20the%20sugar%20and%20spices.%20Stir%20into%20the%20apples%20and%20then%20gently%20fold%20in%20the%20blackberries.%20Set%20on%20a%20baking%20sheet.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMeasure%20the%20flour%20into%20a%20large%20bowl.%20Whisk%20in%20the%20cinnamon.%20Rub%20in%20the%20butter%20to%20make%20a%20coarse%20crumbly%20mixture.%20Stir%20in%20the%20sugar,%20almonds%20(oats)%20and%20lemon%20zest.%20Set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EChop%20up%20the%20marzipan%20and%20sprinkle%20evenly%20over%20top%20of%20the%20fruit.%20Crumble%20the%20flour%20mixture%20evenly%20over%20top.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBake%20for%2045%20minutes,%20until%20the%20topping%20is%20golden%20and%20the%20fruit%20is%20juicy,%20tender%20and%20bubbling.%20Allow%20to%20sit%20for%205%20to%2010%20minutes%20to%20cool,%20then%20spoon%20out%20into%20serving%20dishes%20and%20serve%20warm%20with%20pouring%20cream%20or%20custard.%20(or%20ice%20cream!)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20simple%20supper%20of%20Creamed%20Peas%20on%20Toast%20over%20in%20The%20Cottage%20today.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
