%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow,%20I%E2%80%99ve%20never%20attended%20a%20ball%20game%20in%20April%20myself,%20because,%20let%E2%80%99s%20be%20honest,%20I%E2%80%99m%20just%20not%20that%20much%20of%20a%20die%20hard.%20Even%20so,%20I%20start%20craving%20the%20long,%20luscious%20days%20of%20summer%20as%20soon%20as%20the%20season%20starts.%20There%E2%80%99s%20just%20something%20about%20baseball.%20It%E2%80%99s%20the%20essence%20of%20summer.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20I%20was%20younger,%20I%20got%20taken%20out%20to%20the%20ball%20game%20more%20times%20than%20I%20can%20count.%20Thanks%20to%20my%20Dad%E2%80%99s%20devotion%20the%20game,%20I%20spent%20many%20hours%20of%20my%20childhood%20summers%20at%20the%20ballpark.%20Or%20riding%20in%20the%20car%20to%20get%20the%20ballpark.%20So%20much%20so%20that%20as%20soon%20as%20I%20was%20old%20enough%20to%20decide%20for%20myself%20if%20I%20wanted%20to%20go,%20I%20pretty%20much%20quit%20all%20together.%20Now%20that%20I%E2%80%99m%20older,%20I%20appreciate%20the%20ritual%20of%20the%20game%20so%20much%20more.%20I%20look%20back%20on%20all%20that%20time%20sitting%20with%20my%20Dad%20at%20the%20ballpark%20very%20fondly%20and%20find%20going%20to%20games%20with%20my%20Dad%20is%20still%20one%20of%20my%20favorite%20things%20to%20do.%20And%20it%20just%20so%20happens,%20I%20married%20a%20big%20baseball%20fan%20so%20the%20tradition%20of%20summer%20nights%20at%20the%20ballpark%20continue.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBaseball%20is%20reserved%20exclusively%20for%20the%20best%20days%20of%20the%20year.%20The%20kind%20of%20days%20that%20melt%20into%20warm,%20twinkling%20twilight.%20The%20crack%20of%20the%20bat,%20the%20suspense%20of%20the%20ball%20dangling%20in%20midair,%20the%20explosion%20of%20the%20crowd.%20It%E2%80%99s%20the%20perfect%20combination%20of%20excitement%20and%20relaxation.%20Being%20at%20a%20ball%20game%20is%20like%20chilling%20on%20the%20patio%20in%20your%20own%20backyard.%20All%20your%20best%20buds,%20eats%20hot%20off%20the%20grill,%20ice%20cold%20brew.%20Sure%20there%E2%80%99s%20a%20game%20going%20on,%20but%20if%20most%20the%209%20innings%20is%20spent%20laughing%20and%20socializing,%20that%E2%80%99s%20okay.%20You%20still%20win%20regardless%20of%20the%20score.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EForget%20the%20peanuts%20and%20Cracker%20Jack,%20when%20I%20get%20to%20the%20park,%20all%20I%20want%20is%20big%20soft%20pretzel%20complete%20with%20a%20tiny%20cup%20of%20overpriced,%20overprocessed%20liquid%20cheese%20concoction.%20Oh,%20and%20a%20cold%20beer.%20Carbs,%20washed%20down%20with%20more%20carbs%20=%20dinner.%20Those%20ballpark%20pretzels%E2%80%A6.I%20keep%20going%20back.%20Are%20they%20that%20great?%20No.%20When%20it%E2%80%99s%20gone%20do%20I%20look%20down%20at%20the%20wayward%20pretzel%20salt%20stuck%20to%20my%20lap%20and%20think%20%E2%80%9Chm,%20I%20sure%20am%20glad%20I%20ate%20that%E2%80%9D?%20Uh,%20no.%20But%20it%E2%80%99s%20part%20of%20the%20ritual.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20good%20news%20is%20you%20can%20recreate%20that%20summer%20pretzel%20ritual%20at%20home%20all%20year%20round.%20And%20have%20it%20taste%20a%20million%20times%20better%20than%20the%20lukewarm,%20doughy,%20previously%20frozen%20version%20you%20get%20at%20the%20park.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHomemade%20soft%20pretzels%20are%20super%20easy%20to%20make%20and%20a%20great%20introduction%20to%20the%20world%20of%20yeast%20if%20you%E2%80%99ve%20yet%20to%20venture%20into%20that%20whole%20realm.%20The%20dough%20mixes%20up%20in%20a%20snap,%20it%E2%80%99s%20easy%20to%20work%20with%20and%20shape%20and%20the%20scrumptious%20reward%20at%20the%20end%20is%20well%20worth%20the%20extra%20time%20it%20takes%20to%20do%20it%20from%20scratch.%20The%20boiling%20step%20can%20be%20a%20bit%20tedious,%20but%20again,%20well%20worth%20it%20in%20the%20end.%20This%20time%20around%20I%20fancied%20them%20up%20a%20bit%20with%20classic%20flavors%20of%20an%20everything%20bagel.%20Peppered%20with%20a%20mix%20of%20poppy%20seeds,%20sesame%20seeds,%20salt,%20onions%20and%20garlic,%20these%20pretzels%20pack%20a%20ton%20of%20flavor.%20They%E2%80%99re%20excellent%20with%20a%20bit%20of%20honey%20mustard%20and%20outstanding%20with%20a%20homemade%20cheese%20sauce.%20Any%20way%20you%20bake%20them,%20break%20them,%20dip%20them%20or%20scarf%20them,%20you%E2%80%99ll%20stand%20up%20and%20cheer.%20:)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EEVERYTHING%20SOFT%20PRETZELS%20(Recipe%20Source:%20Alton%20Brown%20via%20Foodnetwork.com)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EINGREDIENTS:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDIRECTIONS:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECombine%20the%20water,%20sugar%20and%20kosher%20salt%20in%20the%20bowl%20of%20a%20stand%20mixer%20and%20sprinkle%20the%20yeast%20on%20top.%20Allow%20to%20sit%20for%205%20minutes%20or%20until%20the%20mixture%20begins%20to%20foam.%20Add%20the%20flour%20and%20butter%20and,%20using%20the%20dough%20hook%20attachment,%20mix%20on%20low%20speed%20until%20well%20combined.%20Change%20to%20medium%20speed%20and%20knead%20until%20the%20dough%20is%20smooth%20and%20pulls%20away%20from%20the%20side%20of%20the%20bowl,%20approximately%204%20to%205%20minutes.%20Remove%20the%20dou
