Toffee Squares

You'll be the hit of the Christmas cookie exchange with these. No one will ever know how easy they are to make. These taste more like a chocolate chip cookie than toffee but they sure are good.

Ingredientes

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teasp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teasp almond extract
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 1/3 cup (8 oz) semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup walnuts or pecans, chopped fairly small

Direcciones

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Line 10 x 13 inch pan with foil
  3. In a medium bowl beat together butter, brown sugar, egg, vanilla and almond extracts until light and fluffy.
  4. Add flour beating until well blended.
  5. Spread mixture evenly on foil-lined pan.
  6. Bake 18-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. When you remove from oven sprinkle chocolate pieces evenly over hot cookie surface. Bake 2-3 minutes, remove from oven and let stand 1 minute. ** With a knife, spread chocolate evenly over top.
  8. Sprinkle with chopped nuts.
  9. While warm, cut into squares. Do not try to remove from pan until completely cooled.
  10. Chocolate chips don't appear melted and hold their shape when hot. They will spread easily when you touch them with a knife.
  11. May be stored in freezer but make sure they are completely cooled first.
