Receta Toffee Squares
You'll be the hit of the Christmas cookie exchange with these. No one will ever know how easy they are to make. These taste more like a chocolate chip cookie than toffee but they sure are good.
Ingredientes
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teasp vanilla extract
- 1/4 teasp almond extract
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 1/3 cup (8 oz) semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup walnuts or pecans, chopped fairly small
Direcciones
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Line 10 x 13 inch pan with foil
- In a medium bowl beat together butter, brown sugar, egg, vanilla and almond extracts until light and fluffy.
- Add flour beating until well blended.
- Spread mixture evenly on foil-lined pan.
- Bake 18-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- When you remove from oven sprinkle chocolate pieces evenly over hot cookie surface. Bake 2-3 minutes, remove from oven and let stand 1 minute. ** With a knife, spread chocolate evenly over top.
- Sprinkle with chopped nuts.
- While warm, cut into squares. Do not try to remove from pan until completely cooled.
- ** Chocolate chips don't appear melted and hold their shape when hot. They will spread easily when you touch them with a knife.
- May be stored in freezer but make sure they are completely cooled first.
