Tomato Gravy, Southern Style

Ingredientes

  • 6 slc bacon, finely minced
  • 1 sm onion, diced
  • 2 x 16 oz cans whole tomatoes, broken up
  •     Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 x Sugar to taste, the sugar is an important ingredient to this gravy
  • 1 x Flour or possibly cornstarch mixed with a little water to use as the thickener

Direcciones

  1. Cook bacon in a large fry pan till almost crisp. Drain off some the grease if there is a lot. Add in the onions to the grease and bacon and saute/fry till the onions are soft. Add in the broken up tomatoes to the pan and season with the salt, pepper and sugar. Simmer for a few min then add in the flour mix a little at a time and simmer and stir till the gravy thickens.
  2. This was my grandmother's recipe, it is great over warm, homemade biscuits.
