%20usually%20have%20gelatin%20in%20them,%20a%20definite%20vegetarian%20no-no.%20Yogurt%20used%20to%20be%20a%20way%20for%20me%20to%20enjoy%20something%20sweet%20and%20got%20a%20little%20kick%20of%20calcium%20and%20protein,%20too.%20So%20on%20my%20to-do%20list,%20I%20added%20finding%20a%20yogurt%20substitute.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELet's%20just%20say%20I'm%20not%20there%20yet.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20used%20to%20be%20freakishly%20afraid%20of%20soy%20yogurt.%20When%20I%20finally%20got%20up%20the%20nerve%20to%20use%20soy%20yogurt%20in%20my%20baked%20goods,%20my%20fear%20diminished.%20Soy%20yogurt%20has%20truly%20proven%20to%20be%20a%20great%20substitute%20for%20sour%20cream%20or%20eggs%20in%20a%20recipe,%20and%20I'm%20happy%20to%20include%20it%20all%20the%20time.%20But%20each%20time%20I%20cracked%20open%20the%20container%20and%20thought%20about%20eating%20it%20straight,%20by%20itself,%20I'd%20turn%20up%20my%20nose%20and%20decide%20against%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAs%20you%20all%20know,%20though,%20I%20hate%20wasting%20food,%20and%20I%20definitely%20did%20not%20want%20to%20throw%20away%20a%20perfectly%20*good*%20(good%20as%20in%20not%20expired,%20not%20tasty...)%20container%20of%20soy%20yogurt.%20I%20remembered%20a%20recipe%20in%20Jillian%20Michaels's%20book%20Master%20Your%20Metabolism%20for%20a%20dairy%20smoothie,%20so%20I%20used%20that%20recipe%20for%20inspiration%20and%20threw%20some%20ingredients%20in%20a%20blender,%20put%20some%20of%20it%20in%20a%20travel%20mug%20for%20work,%20and%20then%20froze%20the%20rest.%20The%20smoothie%20was%20good%20and%20filling.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhat%20I%20wasn't%20expecting%20was%20how%20delicious%20the%20frozen%20concoction%20would%20be.%20I%20brought%20that%20to%20work%20the%20next%20day,%20intending%20to%20stick%20it%20in%20my%20fridge%20in%20my%20office%20so%20it%20would%20thaw%20and%20I%20could%20have%20an%20afternoon%20smoothie.%20Wouldn't%20you%20know,%20by%203:30%20I%20was%20starving%20and%20needed%20protein,%20and%20that%20sucker%20was%20just%20as%20frozen%20as%20it%20had%20been%20at%208%20AM.%20So%20I%20grabbed%20a%20spoon%20from%20the%20lunchroom%20and%20started%20eating.%20And%20it%20was%20fabulous!%20It%20tasted%20just%20like%20a%20fruit%20sorbet,%20and%20it%20provided%20snacks%20for%20me%20for%20the%20next%20several%20days.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPerhaps%20I%20shouldn't%20yet%20give%20up%20on%20my%20yogurt%20substitution%20quest;%20when%20my%20Whole%20Foods%20starts%20to%20carry%20rice%20milk%20yogurt,%20maybe%20I%20should%20give%20that%20a%20try.%20I%20tried%20a%20lime%20flavored%20soy%20yogurt%20and%20didn't%20like%20that%20either,%20but%20perhaps%20I%20will%20like%20another%20flavor.%20I%20do%20know%20one%20thing,%20though;%20if%20I%20eat%20soy%20yogurt%20for%20the%20rest%20of%20my%20days%20as%20a%20smoothie%20or%20a%20dessert,%20I'll%20be%20just%20fine.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFruit%20Smoothie%20or%20Fruit%20%22Sorbet%22%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYields:%20Depends%20on%20amount%20of%20fruit%20you%20add...probably%20roughly%204%20cups%20of%20the%20mixture%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:**%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1)%20In%20a%20blender,%20combine%20all%20ingredients.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2)%20Either%20pour%20in%20glasses%20and%20drink%20as%20smoothie,%20or%20freeze%20in%20a%20container%20for%20at%20least%206-8%20hours%20to%20make%20the%20frozen%20dessert.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E**Please%20note%20that%20any%20combination%20of%20fruit%20would%20probably%20work;%20this%20is%20just%20what%20I%20used.%20It%20is%20important,%20though,%20to%20make%20sure%20that%20at%20least%20some%20of%20your%20fruit%20is%20frozen,%20otherwise%20you%20won't%20get%20a%20smoothie.%20If%20you%20don't%20have%20frozen%20fruit,%20just%20add%20ice,%20but%20be%20aware%20that%20could%20water%20down%20your%20smoothie%20if%20it%20gets%20too%20warm.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
