,%20so%20I%20changed%20to%20ADSL.%20%20Also,%20since%20the%20advent%20of%20digital%20television,%20I%20have%20been%20without%20SBS.%20%20This%20has%20nothing%20to%20do%20with%20the%20need%20to%20retune%20my%20TV%20-%20even%20before%20the%20cutover%20from%20analogue%20to%20digital%20TV,%20I%20could%20not%20get%20SBS%20on%20my%20digital%20TV.%20%20Someone%20suggested%20that%20I%20need%20to%20shift%20the%20TV%20aerial,%20but%20this%20is%20not%20possible%20when%20I%20live%20in%20rented%20accommodation.%20%20Accordingly,%20for%20now,%20I%20must%20live%20without%20SBS.%20%20In%20real%20terms,%20this%20means%20that%20I%20must%20live%20without%20their%20fabulous%20Thursday%20night%20cooking%20shows.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOne%20of%20the%20shows%20that%20I%20did%20not%20get%20to%20see%20on%20SBS%20was%20Rachel%20Khoo's%20The%20Little%20Paris%20Kitchen.%20%20This%20is%20rather%20sad,%20because%20Rachel's%20books%20that%20accompanied%20the%20show%20look%20charming,%20and%20I%20can%20only%20imagine%20that%20the%20show%20brought%20the%20books%20to%20life.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHowever,%20I%20did%20have%20a%20stroke%20of%20good%20luck%20in%20that%20I%20found%20a%20copy%20of%20Rachel's%20latest%20book,%20My%20Little%20French%20Kitchen,%20for%20half%20price%20at%20the%20bookshop%20because%20someone%20had%20ripped%20the%20dust%20jacket%20in%20one%20place.%20Fabulous!%20%20The%20rip%20doesn't%20bother%20me%20or%20affect%20the%20useability%20of%20the%20book,%20so%20I%20made%20the%20easy%20decision%20to%20take%20it%20home.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThere%20are%20many%20delicious%20sounding%20regional%20recipes%20from%20all%20over%20France%20in%20My%20Little%20French%20Kitchen,%20accompanied%20by%20beautiful%20photographs%20to%20make%20your%20mouth%20water.%20%20A%20recipe%20that%20immediately%20caught%20my%20eye%20was%20for%20Walnut%20and%20Buckwheat%20Caramel%20Tart.%20%20I%20love%20caramel,%20and%20I%20was%20intrigued%20by%20the%20use%20of%20buckwheat%20-%20and%20I%20just%20happened%20to%20have%20half%20a%20jar%20of%20buckwheat%20left%20over%20from%20my%20failed%20attempt%20to%20like%20buckwheat%20smoothies.%20%20Accordingly,%20I%20bought%20the%20remaining%20ingredients%20and%20this%20tart%20became%20the%20first%20recipe%20that%20I%20made%20from%20My%20Little%20French%20Kitchen%20-%20Australian%20style.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20isn't%20it%20a%20beauty:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20grassiness%20of%20the%20buckwheat%20is%20not%20evident%20in%20the%20flavour%20of%20the%20tart,%20and%20the%20buckwheat%20serves%20merely%20to%20provide%20some%20added%20crunch.%20%20Walnuts%20and%20caramel%20are%20a%20match%20made%20in%20heaven,%20and%20the%20whole%20kit%20and%20kaboodle%20sits%20atop%20a%20sweet%20shortcrust%20base.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYou%20can%20find%20the%20recipe%20for%20this%20tart%20here.%20%20I%20won't%20give%20you%20the%20sweet%20pastry%20recipe,%20because%20you%20can%20use%20any%20sweet%20pastry%20that%20you%20like%20(or%20buy%20a%20ready%20made%20shell),%20and%20I%20personally%20found%20this%20pastry%20difficult%20to%20work%20with%20before%20and%20after%20baking.%20%20It%20is%20very%20soft,%20and%20I%20had%20so%20much%20trouble%20with%20getting%20it%20off%20the%20paper%20once%20rolled%20out%20that%20in%20the%20end,%20I%20just%20scraped%20it%20off%20the%20paper%20and%20pressed%20it%20into%20the%20tart%20pan.%20%20Once%20baked,%20the%20pastry%20seemed%20rather%20crumbly.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20toast%20the%20buckwheat,%20you%20just%20heat%20up%20a%20frying%20pan%20and%20dry%20toast%20the%20buckwheat%20in%20the%20pan%20(ie%20no%20oil)%20for%20around%20five%20minutes%20or%20until%20it%20has%20turned%20golden%20and%20smells%20nutty.%20%20And%20boy,%20is%20it%20a%20heavenly%20smell!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20caramel%20recipe%20surprised%20me%20because%20you%20only%20caramelise%20half%20of%20the%20sugar,%20and%20rest%20of%20the%20sugar%20is%20dumped%20into%20the%20caramel%20with%20the%20rest%20of%20the%20filling%20ingredients%20all%20at%20once.%20%20Do%20be%20careful%20when%20pouring%20the%20other%20filling%20ingredients%20into%20the%20hot%20caramel,%20as%20it%20really%20does%20spit%20angrily,%20and%20you%20don't%20want%20a%20caramel%20burn%20on%20your%20arm%20(or%20anywhere%20else).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYou%20need%20a%20large,%20sturdy%20knife%20to%20cut%20the%20finished%20tart%20into%20pieces,%20but%20it%20is%20well%20worth%20it.%20%20The%20flavours%20and%20textures%20blend%20well%20together,%20and%20a%20slice%20of%20this%20tart%20is%20a%20perfect%20treat%20for%20morning%20tiffin.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
