.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETurn%20the%20heat%20way%20up%20high.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWatch%20Glee%20without%20commentary.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EEat%20sweet%20and%20savory%20foods....which%20is%20one%20of%20the%20inspirations%20of%20this%20salad.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20salad%20was%20also%20inspired%20by%20watermelon%20radishes.%20%20%20They%20are%20hot%20pink%20on%20the%20inside%20and%20light%20green%20on%20the%20outside.%20%20Such%20a%20welcome%20hint%20of%20color%20in%20the%20drab%20wintertime%20and%20as%20we%20all%20know%20(at%20least%20those%20of%20us%20who%20are%20dedicated%20to%20The%20Birdcage)%20one%20must%20have%20one%20tiny%20hint%20of%20color!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnyway,%20this%20salad%20was%20a%20great%20way%20to%20start%20an%20amazing%20dinner%20party%20with%20some%20new%20and%20old%20friends%20back%20here%20in%20the%20Bay%20Area.%20%20It%20was%20a%20night%20filled%20with%20such%20good%20company%20that%20it%20spilled%20over%20into%20the%20food%20I%20was%20making%20and%20made%20it%20taste%20amazing.%20%20The%20next%20day%20I%20was%20filled%20with%20a%20warm%20cozy%20vibe%20from%20the%20night%20before%20and%20the%20feeling%20that%20I%20was%20starting%20to%20rebuild%20my%20community%20here.%20%20I%20hope%20this%20salad%20tastes%20as%20good%20for%20you%20as%20it%20did%20for%20me.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESweet%20and%20Savory%20Watermelon%20Radish%20Salad%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eserves%206%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOne%20other%20note%20on%20watermelon%20radishes.%20%20They%20are%20much%20more%20mild%20and%20less%20bitter%20than%20regular%20radishes.%20%20If%20you%20are%20not%20normally%20a%20fan,%20give%20these%20a%20try%20and%20omit%20the%20regular%20radishes.%20Also,%20you%20can%20substitute%20sour%20cream%20in%20place%20of%20the%20creme%20fraiche%20if%20you%20don't%20have%20it%20or%20don't%20want%20to%20splurge.%20%20In%20place%20of%20the%20pepitas%20you%20could%20substitute%20pine%20nuts,%20slivered%20almonds,%20pecans,%20etc.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20the%20Salad:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFirst%20prepare%20the%20pepitas.%20%20Put%20the%20pepitas%20in%20a%20frying%20pan%20over%20medium%20heat.%20%20Toast%20them%20for%20a%20minute%20then%20add%20the%20honey%20and%20continue%20to%20toast%20them%20in%20the%20pan%20for%20another%20three%20or%20four%20minutes%20until%20the%20pepitas%20are%20golden.%20%20Once%20they%20are%20done%20spread%20them%20out%20on%20parchment%20paper,%20sprinkle%20with%20the%20sea%20salt,%20and%20allow%20them%20to%20cool.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBefore%20you%20plate%20the%20salads,%20go%20ahead%20and%20make%20the%20vinaigrette%20by%20mixing%20together%20all%20the%20ingredients%20and%20set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20prepare%20the%20salad,%20first%20divide%20the%20endives%20evenly%20among%20six%20plates.%20%20Then%20divide%20the%20regular%20radishes%20among%20the%20plates,%20followed%20by%20the%20watermelon%20radishes.%20%20Top%20with%20the%20honeyed%20pepitas%20and%20finally%20a%20dollop%20of%20the%20creme%20fraiche.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDress%20the%20salads%20just%20before%20you%20serve%20them.%20%20The%20vinaigrette%20causes%20the%20colors%20from%20the%20watermelon%20radish%20to%20leech%20from%20them%20and%20run.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
