%20to%20see%20what%20she%20has%20made%20and%20to%20visit%20the%20other%20participant's%20entries.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20week,%20after%20a%20long%20work%20week,%20I%20needed%20a%20treat%20for%20breakfast.%20%20Something%20satisfying%20and%20delicious.%20%20I%20stumbled%20upon%20this%20Orange%20French%20Toast%20recipe,%20a%20la%20Nigella%20Lawson,%20at%20Paris%20Pastry.%20%20I've%20been%20in%20an%20orange-y%20frame%20of%20mind%20lately%20(remember%20the%20Creamsicle%20Cookie%20debacle),%20and%20THIS%20time,%20I%20actually%20DID%20have%20oranges%20on%20hand!%20%20And,%20coincidentally,%20a%20loaf%20of%20challah%20bread.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E(By%20the%20way,%20if%20you've%20never%20made%20French%20toast%20with%20challah,%20you%20don't%20know%20what%20you're%20missing!%20%20This%20bread%20wants%20to%20be%20French%20toast.%20%20It%20just%20does.%20%20It's%20the%20best.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOkay.%20%20So%20back%20to%20Orange%20French%20Toast.%20%20I%20have%20to%20admit%20that%20I%20took%20some%20creative%20license%20with%20the%20recipe.%20%20I%20added%20a%20little%20fresh%20orange%20juice%20to%20the%20egg%20mixture%20along%20with%20some%20vanilla%20extract%20(which%20I%20always%20add%20to%20the%20French%20toast%20egg%20mixture).%20%20The%20other%20thing%20I%20didn't%20do,%20(okay%20-%20I%20really%20did%20get%20inspired%20by%20this%20recipe),%20was%20make%20the%20orange%20syrup.%20%20I%20like%20my%20French%20toast%20with%20a%20little%20butter,%20and%20that's%20it.%20%20So,%20I%20decided%20to%20forgo%20the%20orange%20syrup.%20%20That%20said,%20I%20don't%20mind%20a%20little%20syrup%20on%20my%20pancakes,%20and%20I%20think%20this%20sauce%20would%20make%20a%20wonderful%20addition%20to%20a%20stack%20of%20hotcakes!%20%20(Go%20with%20my%20stream%20of%20consciousness%20now:%20%20a%20little%20orange%20zest%20in%20your%20next%20stack%20of%20pancakes,%20drizzled%20with%20Paris%20Pastry's%20orange%20syrup.%20%20Sounds%20good,%20right?!%20%20Note%20to%20self:%20%20buy%20more%20oranges...)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20really%20did%20love%20the%20orange%20addition%20to%20the%20French%20toast.%20%20It%20was%20so%20good.%20%20My%20thanks%20to%20Paris%20Pastry%20for%20the%20inspiration.%20%20Don't%20forget%20to%20give%20this%20gem%20of%20a%20blog%20a%20look-see.%20%20She%20has%20many%20wonderful%20recipes%20and%20photos%20to%20inspire%20you,%20too!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhisk%20the%20eggs,%20milk,%20cinnamon,%20and%20orange%20zest%20in%20a%20wide%20shallow%20dish.%20Soak%20the%20bread%20slices%20in%20this%20mixture%20for%202%20minutes%20a%20side.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhile%20the%20eggy%20bread%20is%20soaking,%20bring%20the%20orange%20juice,%20marmalade,%20and%20sugar%20to%20a%20boil,%20then%20turn%20down%20to%20a%20fast%20simmer%20for%203%20to%204%20minutes.%20If%20you%20need%20to,%20let%20this%20syrup%20stand%20while%20you%20cook%20the%20bread.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHeat%20the%20tablespoon%20of%20butter%20in%20a%20skillet%20and%20cook%20the%20eggy%20bread%20for%20about%202%20minutes%20a%20side%20over%20medium%20heat%20until%20golden.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServe%20the%20French%20toast%20with%20some%20of%20the%20amber%20syrup%20poured%20over%20each%20slice,%20and%20a%20pitcher%20of%20extra%20syrup%20on%20the%20side.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
