%20readers%20are%20keeping%20warm!%20%20Long%20Island%20didn%E2%80%99t%20get%20hit%20as%20badly%20with%20snow%20as%20predicted,%20but%20getting%20to%20and%20from%20work%20on%20Friday%20was%20definitely%20pretty%20insane.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHere%E2%80%99s%20some%20of%20what%20I%20ate%20when%20I%20wasn%E2%80%99t%20shivering%E2%80%A6%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELunch%20packed%20for%20work%20on%20Friday.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELeftovers%20of%20my%20spin%20on%20Hoppin%E2%80%99%20John%20on%20top%20of%20leftover%20farro,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ewith%20cola%20candies,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eand%20tangerines.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20actually%20ate%20the%20tangerines%20on%20my%20train%20ride%20home,%20alongside%20a%20nice,%20warm%20espresso.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECoffee%20was%20very%20loved%20this%20weekend.%20%20I%20also%20had%20a%20cinnamon%20brown%20sugar%20iced%20latte%20from%20Dunkin%20Donuts%20%7Blove,%20love,%20loved%7D,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eand%20a%20hazelnut%20iced%20coffee%20%E2%80%93%20with%20sugar,%20skim%20milk,%20and%20a%20dash%20of%20vanilla%20creamer%20%E2%80%93%20from%20Bagel%20Boss%20%7BI%20can%E2%80%99t%20really%20speak%20to%20their%20bagels%20but%20I%E2%80%99m%20obsessed%20with%20their%20iced%20coffee%7D.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAaaaaand%20a%20different%20iced%20latte%20from%20Starbucks%20that%20I%20didn%E2%80%99t%20photograph%20because%20it%20was%20getting%20ridiculous.%20%20Yes,%20I%20recently%20became%20extra%20in%20love%20with%20coffee.%20%20No,%20I%20won%E2%80%99t%20switch%20from%20iced%20no%20matter%20how%20cold%20it%20gets.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20delicious%20dinner%20on%20Friday%20night.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20made%20%E2%80%9Cmiso%20stoup%E2%80%9D%20for%20the%20first%20time%20and%20was%20thrilled%20with%20the%20results.%20%20Not%20totally%20traditional,%20but%20with%20ingredients%20we%20had%20on%20hand.%20%20And%20extra%20%E2%80%9Cchunky%E2%80%9D%20because%20it%20was%20our%20whole%20meal%20and%20not%20just%20a%20side.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBring%20broth%20to%20a%20simmer%20in%20a%20medium%20pot%20over%20medium-high%20heat.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20miso%20to%20broth%20and%20whisk%20until%20no%20lumps%20remain.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20remaining%20ingredients%20to%20pan%20and%20simmer%20an%20additional%203%20%E2%80%93%205%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20loved%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENot%20so%20delicious%20fondue%20for%20dinner%20on%20Saturday%20night.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20split%20a%20lemon%20cream%20pie%20martini%20that%20wasn%E2%80%99t%20terrible.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20for%20fondue%20we%20ordered%20the%20sharp%20cheese,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eand%20the%20caramel%20pecan%20chocolate%20(though%20I%E2%80%99m%20fairly%20certain%20they%20left%20out%20our%20caramel).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBoth%20were%20fairly%20meh.%20%20The%20bread%20cubes%20were%20terrible%20and%20we%20only%20got%20two%20each%20of%20the%20other%20dippers%20so%20if%20you%20liked%20something%20you%20couldn%E2%80%99t%20even%20try%20it%20again%20because%20then%20the%20other%20person%20didn%E2%80%99t%20get%20any.%20%20We%20cashed%20in%20a%20Groupon%20to%20Simply%20Fondue%20and%20even%20with%20the%20$%20off%20it%20was%20still%20pretty%20darn%20expensive.%20%20Boo.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERandom%20but%20good%20things%20include:%20%20A%20bowl%20of%20Nature%E2%80%99s%20Path%20Heritage%20Flakes%20with%20blackberries%20and%20unsweetened%20vanilla%20almond%20milk.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20Suede%20Imperial%20Porter%20from%20Stone%20%7BI%20couldn%E2%80%99t%20taste%20the%20honey%20but%20the%20floral%20scent%20was%20amazing%7D,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20a%20big%20bowl%20of%20popcorn%20with%20truffle%20salt.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOh%20jeez,%20the%20truffle%20popcorn.%20%20Insane.%20%20Usually%20Adam%20turns%20his%20nose%20up%20at%20my%20bowls%20of%20popcorn%20but%20this%20time%20he%20was%20more%20than%20happy%20to%20share.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYesterday%20we%20did%20a%20late,%20great%20brunch.%20%20My%20guava%20mimosa%20was%20quite%20tasty.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20were%20visiting%20friends%20in%20Williamsburg%20and%20they%20took%20us%20to%20Simple.%20%20We%20all%20had%20wonderful%20meals.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20got%20the%20Vegetable%20Burger%20%E2%80%93%20Saut%C3%A9ed%20spinach,%20mushroom,%20zucchini,%20pepper,%20onion,%20garlic.%20%20It%20was%20more%20of%20a%20pile%20of%20veggies%20than%20a%20burger,%20particularly%20once%20I%20ordered%20it%20sans%20bun.%20%20It%20was%20also%20delicious,%20especially%20when%20topped%20with%20Danish%20blue%20cheese.%20%20And%20the%20fries%20on%20the%20side%20were%20nice%20and%20crispy!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EP.S.%20You%20have%20until%202%20pm%20EST%20to%20enter%20my%20Eggland%E2%80%99s%20Best%20giveaway.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELike%20Loading...%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
