%20and%20ate%20candy%20(Sour%20Patch%20Kids%20and%20chocolate-covered%20gummi%20bears)%20for%20dinner.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20ate%20a%20lot%20(a%20lot)%20of%20junk%20this%20weekend,%20but%20I%20did%20manage%20to%20throw%20some%20pretty%20gourmet%20meals%20in%20there%20as%20well.%20%20If%20last%20week%20was%20all%20about%20the%20jalape%C3%B1o,%20this%20was%20the%20weekend%20of%20bacon!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ebreakfasts%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOn%20the%20go.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20had%20to%20eat%20on%20the%20way%20while%20running%20errands%20so%20I%20made%20us%20something%20portable.%20%20A%20terrible,%20god-awful%20smoothie.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPumpkin,%20frozen%20kale,%20frozen%20banana,%20Silk%20Vanilla%20Almond%20Milk,%20and%20a%20bit%20of%20maple.%20%20This%20had%20such%20potential%20but%20the%20kale%20didn%E2%80%99t%20fully%20blend%20and%20chewing%20threw%20it%20was%20horrifying.%20%20I%20forced%20down%2090%25%20for%20the%20nutrients,%20but%20did%20not%20enjoy%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMy%20TJ%E2%80%99s%20pumpkin%20cereal%20bar%20was%20much%20better.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20thought%20the%20filling%20was%20great;%20sweet%20and%20spicy.%20%20And%20how%20cute%20is%20the%20labeling?!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20bought%20these%20when%20we%20were%20a%20little%20loopy%20from%20sleeplessness%20and%20Adam%20thought%20the%20pun%20was%20seriously%20the%20funniest%20thing%20ever.%20%20We%20spent%20the%20rest%20of%20the%20evening%20making%20variations%20on%20this%20joke%20%E2%80%93%20%E2%80%9CA%20strawberry%20asks%20a%20pumpkin%20on%20a%20date%E2%80%A6%20what%20happens%20next?%E2%80%9D%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnother%20kale%20fail.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20just%20could%20not%20win%20on%20the%20kale%20front%20this%20week.%20%20Again,%20these%20eggs%20had%20potential,%20but%20there%20just%20seemed%20to%20be%20sooooo%20much%20kale%20and%20we%20both%20hated%20them.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOffending%20eggs.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDelicious%20turkey%20bacon.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESide%20of%20grapes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAt%20least%20the%20other%20components%20were%20good.%20%20And%20I%20shared%20many%20bites%20of%20egg%20with%20the%20dog,%20who%20was%20such%20a%20good%20boy%20about%20eating%20his%20greens!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Elunches%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOn%20Saturday%20two%20of%20our%20good%20friends%20from%20Buffalo%20(who%20are%20now%20living%20in%20Rochester%20for%20medical%20residency)%20came%20up%20to%20visit.%20%20We%20met%20up%20for%20a%20lovely%20lunch%20at%20Bareburger.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20got%20the%20Western%20Burger,%20with%20a%20turkey%20burger,%20sans%20bun.%20%20Smoked%20mozzarella%20/%20country%20turkey%20bacon%20/%20house-made%20Carolina%20slaw%20/%20smokehouse%20sauce%20/%20topped%20with%20a%20crispy,%20spicy%20pickle%20spear.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20fricking%20good!%20%20That%20hunk%20on%20the%20side%20was%20my%20pickle,%20which%20blew%20my%20mind.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20sandwich%20at%20home.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20whole-wheat%20bagel%20thin%20with%20turkey%20bacon,%20brie,%20and%20pumpkin%20butter.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20combo%20was%20ridiculous.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlus%20the%20last%20of%20the%20grapes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20have%20not%20been%20eating%20enough%20fruit%20this%20fall%20and%20it%20was%20nice%20to%20have%20something%20other%20than%20apples%20in%20the%20house.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Edinners%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMore%20greens,%20more%20grapes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20big%20pile%20of%20chicken%20salad.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EKale%20chips.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20was%20the%20only%20iteration%20of%20kale%20that%20I%20actually%20enjoyed%20this%20weekend.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20carb%20portion%20of%20dinner%20was%20consumed%20in%20the%20car%20on%20the%20way%20home%20from%20the%20store.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdam%20and%20I%20split%20a%20TJ%E2%80%99s%20soft%20pretzel%20stick%20and%20loved%20it.%20%20Great%20chew!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20even%20whipped%20myself%20up%20a%20drink%20while%20I%20made%20dinner.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOctober%20is%20National%20Caramel%20Month%20and%20Sobieski%20sent%20me%20some%20samples%20of%20their%20Karamel%20Vodka%20to%20celebrate.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENote%20%E2%80%93%20I%20received%20the%20vodka%20samples%20free%20of%20charge.%20%20I%20was%20not%20provided%20further%20compensation%20for%20this%20post.%20%20All%20opinions%20are%20my%20own.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20vodka%20was%20good,%20but%20next%20time%20I%E2%80%99d%20go%20with%20a%202:1%20ratio%20of%20vodka%20to%20Pucker,%20the%20sour%20apple%20flavor%20was%20a%20little%20strong!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESoup%E2%80%99s%20up.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELast%20night%20we%20ate%20big%20bowls%20of%20my%20Loaded%20Potato%20Soup.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETruffles%20for%20dessert.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%E2%80%99ve%20raved%20about%20Alter%20Eco%E2%80%99s%20Silk%20chocolate%20line%20in%20the%20past%20and%20they%20sweetly%20sent%20me%20some%20of%20their%20newest%20product%20%E2%80%93%20Dark%20Velvet%20Truffles.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENote%20%E2%80%93%20I%20received%20the%20truffles%20free%20of%20charge.%20%20I%20was%20not%20provided%20further%20compensation%20for%20this%20post.%20%20All%20opinions%20are%20my%20own.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20truffles,%20which%20are%20also%20available%20in%20Black,%20are%20organic,%20fair%20trade,%20and%20non-GMO.%20%20They%20are%20made%20with%20coconut%20oil,%20a%20more%20sustainable%20option%20than%20palm%20kernel%20oil%20(I%20didn%E2%80%99t%20taste%20any%20coconut%20flavor).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20thought%20that%20the%20truffles%20were%20great;%20nice%20and%20creamy!%20%20The%20husband%20hates%20dark%20chocolate%20as%20a%20rule,%20but%20loved%20the%20Silk%20bars%20so%20I%20will%20have%20him%20try%20one%20of%20the%20truffles%20and%20report%20back.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHave%20a%20great%20week!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELike%20Loading...%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
