%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFancy%20some%20Pimm's?%20(Taken%20outside%20of%20The%20Bear%20in%20Oxford)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDuring%20our%20time%20in%20Oxford%20we%20kept%20encountering%20references%20to%20Pimm%E2%80%99s%20everywhere,%20from%20the%20chalkboard%20above%20to%20some%20of%20the%20wedding%20guests%20offering%20to%20fetch%20me%20a%20Pimm%E2%80%99s%20Cup%20while%20I%20hacked%20through%20our%20bridesmaid%20bouquets%20prior%20to%20dinner%20(it%E2%80%99s%20a%20long%20story).%20Alas,%20neither%20Michael%20nor%20I%20were%20able%20to%20actually%20try%20this%20unbelievably%20English%20libations%20until%20we%20arrived%20in%20London%20and%20C%20suggested%20making%20a%20pitcher%20of%20it,%20which%20was%20part%20of%20her%20larger%20scheme:%20Getting%20Us%20to%20Enjoy%20Odd%20British%20Foods.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20those%20unfamiliar%20with%20Pimm%E2%80%99s%20No.%201%20Cup,%20it%E2%80%99s%20a%20gin-based%20cordial%20that%20bears%20a%20slight%20resemblance%20to%20Campari,%20mainly%20because%20they%20have%20similar%20alcoholic%20content%20(25%25)%20and%20tend%20to%20be%20consumed%20before%20or%20after%20dinner.%20Like%20Campari,%20it%E2%80%99s%20infused%20with%20herbs%20and%20spices%20which%20give%20it%20an%20intense%20flavor,%20but%20when%20turned%20into%20the%20traditional%20cocktail%20that%20flavor%20is%20diluted%20substantially,%20especially%20when%20muddled%20fruits%20are%20added%20to%20the%20party.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20Jug%20of%20Pimm's%20With%20All%20The%20Trimms!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EProbably%20the%20strangest%20element%20in%20this%20drink%20is%20the%20use%20of%20lemonade%E2%80%93and%20don%E2%80%99t%20even%20think%20about%20opening%20that%20carton%20of%20Newman%E2%80%99s%20Own.%20No,%20this%20calls%20for%20English-style%20lemonade:%20clear%20and%20carbonated%E2%80%93basically%20Sprite%20for%20those%20of%20us%20here%20in%20the%20States.%20It%20works,%20however:%20the%20fizz%20adds%20a%20refreshing%20bite%20to%20the%20drink,%20and%20the%20lemon-lime%20flavor%20mellows%20out%20the%20strong,%20herbal%20liquor.%20Adding%20the%20lemonade%20and%20ice%20also%20helps%20dilute%20the%20already%20low%20alcoholic%20content,%20making%20this%20a%20perfect%20drink%20to%20while%20away%20a%20lazy%20Saturday%20or%20Sunday%20afternoon%E2%80%93but%20still%20leave%20you%20sharp%20enough%20to%20make%20an%20excellent%20dinner.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhich%20we%20did,%20of%20course.%20But%20you%E2%80%99ll%20just%20have%20to%20wait%20a%20little%20to%20hear%20that%20tale.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20medium-sized%20pitcher%20add%20fruit%20and%20ice%20and%20then%20fill%201/3%20of%20pitcher%20with%20Pimm%E2%80%99s%20followed%20by%20filling%20the%20remaining%20two%20thirds%20with%20lemon%20soda.%20Stir,%20trying%20to%20muddle%20the%20fruit%20if%20you%20can,%20and%20pour%20into%20glasses,%20letting%20ice%20and%20fruit%20fall%20in%20with%20the%20drink.%20Add%20a%20sprig%20of%20mint%20to%20garnish%20if%20you%20please,%20sit%20back%20and%20proceed%20to%20turn%20the%20telly%20on%20to%20the%20latest%20cricket%20match%20or%20English%20Premiere%20League%20game%20on%20Fox%20Soccer.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECheers!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
