%20yesterday.%20We%20live%20about%2020%20minutes%20away%20from%20the%20city,%20but%20never%20go%20there%20to%20actually%20see%20places.%20I%20usually%20go%20there%20on%20business,%20either%20for%20a%20meeting%20or%20a%20seminar,%20never%20as%20a%20tourist.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20always%20wanted%20to%20take%20the%20NYC%20bus%20tour%20and%20finally%20did%20it%20yesterday.%20Its%20fun%20to%20sit%20on%20the%20open%20top%20double%20decker%20and%20see%20the%20sights%20of%20the%20city.%20I%20enjoyed%20the%20tour,%20but%20I%20want%20to%20do%20it%20again%20without%20the%20kids,%20so%20I%20can%20enjoy%20the%20city%20even%20more%20:-)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWell%20we%20came%20back%20home%20ravished%20and%20good%20thing%20that%20I%20had%20these%20adzuki%20bean-brown%20rice%20burgers%20frozen%20and%20ready%20to%20cook.%20All%20we%20had%20to%20was%20to%20bake%20some%20Sweet%20Potato%20fries%20and%20chop%20up%20some%20veggies%20for%20topping%20and%20in%20less%20than%2030minutes%20we%20had%20a%20filling%20and%20delicious%20lunch.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhole%20Foods%20sells%20Adzuki%20bean-brown%20rice%20burger.%20I%20never%20bought%20them%20but%20wanted%20to%20try%20that%20combo%20for%20a%20long%20time.%20Adzuki%20beans%20need%20only%202~3hours%20to%20soak%20and%20cook%20pretty%20quickly.%20In%20addition%20to%20the%20beans%20and%20rice,%20I%20added%20some%20bread%20crumbs,%20flour%20and%20a%20flax%20egg%20for%20binding.%20I%20flavored%20the%20burgers%20with%20Indian%20spices%20like%20kasoori%20methi%20and%20kitchen%20king%20masala.%20My%20focus%20group%20(my%20mom,%20sister%20and%20husband)%20liked%20them.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThese%20burgers%20are%20quite%20sturdy%20and%20didn't%20fall%20apart%20when%20cooking%20like%20other%20vegan/%20veggie%20burgers.%20I'm%20not%20sure%20if%20they%20can%20stand%20up%20to%20grilling,%20but%20I%20think%20they%20might(will%20update%20when%20I%20try%20grilling%20them).%20They%20also%20freeze%20very%20well,%20so%20make%20a%20big%20batch%20and%20freeze%20the%20uncooked%20burgers%20to%20eat%20later.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMethod:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWash,%20rinse%20and%20soak%20adzuki%20beans%20for%20at%20least%204~6hours.%20Cook%20the%20beans%20and%20rice%20separately%20until%20tender.%20I%20pressure%20cooked%20them%20separately,%20beans%20for%205%20whistles%20and%20rice%20for%203%20whistles.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDrain%20the%20excess%20water%20and%20let%20them%20cool%20for%20a%20little%20bit.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20the%20meantime,%20heat%202tsp%20oil%20in%20a%20saute%20pan%20and%20cook%20until%20translucent%20about%203~4minutes.%20Next%20add%20garlic%20clove%20and%20cook%20for%201%20minute.%20Next%20add%20the%20chopped%20peppers%20and%20cook%20until%20tender,%20about%206~8%20minutes.%20Season%20with%20salt,%20chili%20powder,%20kitchen%20king%20masala%20&%20kasoori%20methi.%20Mix%20well%20and%20turn%20off%20the%20heat.%20Let%20the%20mixture%20cool%20slightly.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECombine%20the%20beans,%20rice%20and%20the%20onion%20mixture%20in%20the%20food%20processor.%20Process%20until%20the%20mixture%20comes%20together.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemove%20it%20into%20a%20bowl%20and%20add%20bread%20crumbs,%20flour%20and%20form%20a%20smooth%20dough%20that%20doesn't%20stick%20to%20hands.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETake%20%C2%BCcup%20of%20mixture%20and%20form%20into%20patties.%20Place%20some%20breadcrumbs%20in%20a%20plate%20and%20roll%20the%20patties%20in%20the%20breadcrumbs%20on%20both%20sides.%20At%20this%20point,%20burgers%20can%20be%20made%20right%20away%20or%20can%20be%20frozen%20for%20later.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHeat%201tbsp%20oil%20in%20a%20saute/%20grill%20pan.%20Cook%20the%20burgers%20on%20medium-low%20flame%20until%20golden%20on%20both%20sides%20and%20cooked%20through,%20about%203%20minutes%20on%20both%20sides.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServe%20on%20sandwich%20buns%20with%20the%20choice%20of%20toppings.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELets%20check%20out%20what%20my%20fellow%20marathoners%20have%20cooked%20up%20today%20for%20BM%23%2033.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
