%20Tender,%20which%20is%20just%20magnificent%20and%20so%20much%20more%20than%20a%20recipe%20book,%20in%20fact%20not%20really%20a%20recipe%20book%20at%20all%20but%20more%20of%20a%20food%20and%20gardening%20book%20full%20of%20inspiration.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECreamy%20garlic%20and%20cider%20chicken%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20particular%20recipe,%20however,%20comes%20from%20an%20older%20book%20of%20his%20called%20The%2030-minute%20Cook.%20It%E2%80%99s%20a%20great%20little%20book%20full%20of%20recipes%20you%20could%20see%20yourself%20knocking%20up%20any%20day%20of%20the%20week%20without%20too%20much%20faff,%20but%20knowing%20that%20you%E2%80%99ll%20enjoy%20the%20end%20product.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20recipe%20is%20quick%20enough%20to%20make%20after%20work%20but%20delicious%20and%20impressive%20enough%20to%20serve%20on%20the%20weekend%20if%20you%E2%80%99re%20having%20friends%20or%20family%20round.%20It%20is%20rich%20and%20decadent%20with%20a%20soft%20texture%20thanks%20to%20the%20slosh%20of%20double%20cream%20in%20the%20sauce.%20Sweet,%20garlicy,%20creamy,%20filling%20and%20moorish%20%E2%80%93%20I%20urge%20you%20to%20give%20this%20one%20a%20go.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAlthough%20this%20recipe%20would%20have%20been%20quick%20anyway%20I%20adapted%20it%20to%20make%20it%20even%20quicker%20(I%20was%20starving%20the%20night%20I%20made%20it)%20by%20slicing%20the%20chicken%20breast%20into%20pieces.%20A%20good%20tip%20is%20to%20take%20the%20cream%20out%20of%20the%20fridge%20before%20you%20start%20cooking%20or%20find%20some%20way%20to%20warm%20it%20up%20a%20bit%20to%20stop%20the%20sauce%20splitting.%20The%20boiling%20of%20the%20garlic%20cloves%20is%20essential%20and%20if%20you%20haven%E2%80%99t%20tried%20it%20before%20make%20sure%20you%20give%20this%20a%20go%20because%20it%20gives%20the%20cloves%20a%20wonderful%20sweet%20flavour%20that%20won%E2%80%99t%20overpower%20the%20dish,%20hence%20you%20can%20use%20plenty%20of%20them.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECreamy%20chicken,%20cubed%20potatoes%20and%20wilted%20kale%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServes%202%20people%20who%20aren%E2%80%99t%20on%20a%20diet%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDrop%20the%20garlic%20cloves,%20skin%20on,%20into%20a%20pan%20of%20boiling%20water%20and%20blanch%20for%204%20minutes.%20Scoop%20them%20out,%20allow%20to%20cool%20a%20little%20then%20pop%20them%20out%20of%20their%20shells%20and%20set%20to%20one%20side.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHeat%20a%20few%20tablespoons%20of%20olive%20oil%20in%20a%20deep%20heavy-based%20frying%20pan%20then%20add%20the%20butter%20and%20let%20it%20melt,%20fry%20the%20chicken%20pieces%20until%20they%20start%20to%20brown.%20Add%20the%20garlic%20cloves%20whole%20and%20the%20bay%20leaf,%20turn%20the%20heat%20down%20and%20allow%20the%20chicken%20pieces%20to%20cook%20through.%20Pour%20in%20the%20cider%20and%20allow%20it%20to%20sizzle%20and%20reduce%20to%20barely%20a%20two%20or%20three%20tablespoons,%20meanwhile%20mush%20the%20garlic%20cloves%20into%20the%20liquid%20so%20you%20have%20a%20golden%20slush.%20Pour%20in%20the%20cream,%20season%20and%20warm%20it%20all%20through.%20You%20are%20left%20with%20a%20wonderful%20thick%20golden%20sauce%20that%20clings%20to%20the%20chicken.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20served%20mine%20with%20crispy%20herby%20potato%20cubes%20and%20kale,%20gently%20wilted%20with%20some%20butter.%20Yum.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
