,%20we%20both%20noticed%20some%20'produce'%20on%20the%20porch%20in%20fridge%20bags%20with%20freezer%20blocks.%20I%20wasn't%20expecting%20it%20to%20be%20there%20that%20early!%20I'm%20looking%20forward%20especially%20to%20the%20fresh%20fruit%20and%20veg%20we'll%20get%20on%20Wednesday.%20For%20a%20long%20while%20now%20I've%20been%20disappointed%20in%20the%20quality%20of%20fresh%20food%20that%20supermarkets%20offer.%20Sometimes%20fruit%20shops%20aren't%20any%20better%20or%20they%20charge%20too%20much%20or%20require%20a%20%22special%20trip%22%20in%20the%20car%20during%20business%20hours%20ie.%20no%207pm%20%22forgot%20the%20potatoes%22%20dash!%20Supermarkets%20are%20usually%20most%20convenient%20as%20far%20as%20hours%20&%20locations%20go,%20but%20they%20often%20disappoint%20me%20in%20the%20green-grocer%20department.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20Aussie%20Farmers%20website%20(where%20I%20lodged%20my%20orders)%20also%20have%20a%20recipe%20section%20if%20you're%20seeking%20inspiration.%20It%20was%20there%20that%20I%20found%20a%20whole%20category%20devoted%20to%20sausages.%20Hence,%20I%20was%20inspired%20to%20make%20my%20own%20version%20of%20a%20basil%20pesto%20pasta%20sausage%20dish!%20So%20next%20time%20you're%20in%20the%20fridge%20section%20at%20the%20supermarket,%20near%20the%20%22dips%22..%20consider%20buying%20one%20of%20the%20chunky%20pesto%20dips%20(it%20doesn't%20have%20to%20be%20basil%20pesto)%20and%20use%20it%20with%20sausages%20in%20a%20pasta%20meal...%20it's%20more%20special%20than%20it%20sounds!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EChunky%20Pesto%20Pasta%20with%20Sausages%20&%20Cherry%20Tomatoes%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E-500grams%20pasta%20(I%20used%20good%20quality%20spirals%20that%20look%20like%20they%20have%20a%20bit%20of%20flour%20dusted%20over%20them%20-%20they%20have%20more%20texture%20and%20will%20hold%20the%20sauce%20better%20than%20a%20smooth%20surfaced%20pasta)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E-Boil%20pasta%20until%20'aldente'%20ie.%20until%20it%20still%20has%20a%20little%20'bite'%20to%20it.%20Drain,%20run%20under%20cool%20water%20in%20a%20colander%20and%20set%20aside..%20occasionally%20toss%20a%20fork%20through%20it%20to%20keep%20the%20pasta%20from%20sticking%20together.%20A%20quick%20spray%20of%20oil%20sometimes%20helps.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E-Spray%20a%20non-stick%20pan%20and%20fry%20sausages%20until%20brown.%20Let%20rest%205%20minutes%20and%20slice%20diagonally%20and%20set%20aside,%20covered.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E-Wipe%20pan%20out.%20Halve%20the%20cherry%20tomatoes%20and%20add%20them%20to%20the%20pan%20when%20it's%20quite%20hot%20so%20they%20can%20brown%20quickly%20and%20have%20a%20slight%20'char'.%20If%20you're%20adding%20mushrooms,%20add%20those%20after%202%20minutes.%20Add%20a%20pinch%20of%20salt%20to%20the%20pan%20and%20quickly%20move%20tomatoes%20and%20mushrooms%20around%20the%20pan.%20These%20take%20no%20more%20than%203%20to%205%20minutes%20to%20do.%20You%20don't%20want%20mushy%20tomatoes,%20but%20you%20need%20a%20bit%20of%20colour.%20Set%20aside%20in%20a%20small%20dish%20and%20cover.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E-Wipe%20pan%20out%20and%20add%20tub%20of%20pesto%20pasta,%20heat%20through%20for%20about%20a%20minute%20and%20add%20reserved%20pasta%20water%20and%20half%20the%20fresh%20basil..%20stirring%20quickly%20on%20a%20medium-high%20heat..%20sauce%20should%20be%20bubbling%20a%20little%20and%20of%20even%20consistency..%20ie.%20no%20large%20lumps%20or%20anything.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E-Add%20teaspoon%20of%20powdered%20chicken%20stock%20to%20the%20sauce.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E-Add%20sliced%20sausages,%20heat%20through%20and%20then%20add%20pasta,%20keep%20stirring%20and%20heat%20through%20for%203%20to%205%20minutes%20on%20a%20lower%20flame.%20Add%201/3%20cup%20of%20parmesan%20cheese%20and%20stir.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E-To%20make%20this%20sauce%20creamier/richer%20you%20can%20stir%20through%20a%20dollop%20of%20cream%20towards%20the%20end%20or%20use%20evaporated%20skim%20milk%20instead%20of%20a%20cup%20of%20ordinary%20milk.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E-To%20finish%20off,%20stir%20through%20remainder%20of%20the%20fresh%20basil%20&%20the%20prepared%20garlic%20oil.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E-Serve%20in%20pasta%20bowls%20topped%20with%20prepared%20cherry%20tomatoes%20(&/or%20mushrooms%20too),%20a%20sprinkling%20of%20parmesan%20cheese%20and%20some%20pepper%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMonday's%20%22butcher/baker%22%20delivery%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHere%20we%20are%20trying%20out%20some%20bread%20(multigrain%20and%20rye%20sourdough),%20free%20range%20eggs,%20a%2012pk%20of%20bottled%20spring%20water,%20chicken%20breasts,%20porterhouse%20steaks%20and%20premium%20beef%20mince.%20Wednesday%20I'll%20be%20getting%20a%20box%20of%20fruit%20and%20veg..%20and%20Thursday%20(butcher/baker%20again)%20we're%20getting%20a%20couple%20of%20salmon%20fillets,%202%20litre's%20of%20skim%20milk%20and%20a%20packet%20of%20their%20gourmet%20sausages%20&%20some%20$2%20spaghetti%20made%20in%20Tamworth!%20Free%20delivery%20too.%20Aussie%20Farmer's%20Direct.%20-%20if%20anyone's%20interested.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
