%20this%20Five%20Spice%20Stroganoff%20dish.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20started%20when%20I%20was%20rooting%20around%20in%20my%20cupboard%20and%20realised%20I%20hadn't%20used%20Chinese%20Five%20Spice%20in%20a%20while.%20Weird,%20cos%20it's%20one%20of%20my%20favourite%20spices.%20Somehow%20though%20it%20got%20shoved%20to%20the%20back%20and%20forgotten.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20first%20iteration%20was%20literally%20just%20the%20five%20spice%20on%20its%20own%20(with%20a%20bit%20o%20soy%20sauce).%20Nice,%20but%20a%20bit%20dry.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENext%20up,%20a%20couple%20of%20spoons%20of%20Greek%20yogurt.%20Tasty,%20but%20it%20can%20split%20when%20you%20cook%20it%20(well,%20if%20you're%20in%20a%20hurry%20and%20don't%20do%20it%20properly%20like%20me,%20that%20is!),%20and%20look%20a%20bit%20weird.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThird%20attempt,%20some%20cream%20cheese%20and%20coriander.%20Nicest%20version%20so%20far,%20but%20for%20some%20reason,%20the%20coriander%20felt%20a%20step%20too%20far.%20(Maybe%20because%20the%20coriander%20I%20used%20was%20not%20as%20fresh%20as%20I%20thought...)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThen%20finally,%20a%20simple%20dollop%20of%20creme%20fraiche,%20Stroganoff-style.%20Ok,%20so%20I%20think%20Stroganoff%20normally%20uses%20sour%20cream%20but%20same%20diff.%20Add%20in%20shallots%20and%20mushrooms%20and%20you've%20got%20yourself%20a%20nice%20Five%20Spice%20Stroganoff.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20no,%20I%20did%20not%20try%20out%20these%20dishes%20in%20succession,%20all%20in%20one%20night!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1.%20Rinse%20the%20rice%20and%20put%20in%20a%20nonstick%20saucepan%20with%20the%20water.%20Bring%20to%20the%20boil,%20then%20turn%20down%20to%20the%20lowest%20heat.%20Cover%20with%20a%20lid%20and%20leave%20to%20simmer%20for%2020%20minutes.%20Allow%20to%20stand%20for%205%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2.%20In%20a%20large%20bowl,%20mix%20together%20the%20soy%20sauce,%20five%20spice%20and%201%20tbsp%20of%20the%20oil.%20Add%20the%20pork,%20mix%20well%20and%20leave%20to%20marinade%20for%20at%20least%2015%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E3.%20Add%20the%20remaining%20oil%20to%20a%20large%20hot%20pan.%20Saute%20the%20pork%20chunks%20for%20about%205%20minutes%20to%20brown.%20Add%20the%20celery,%20shallots%20and%20mushrooms,%20mixing%20everything%20together%20well.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E4.%20Spoon%20in%20the%20cr%C3%A8me%20fraiche%20and%20gently%20stir%20in.%20Turn%20down%20to%20the%20lowest%20heat,%20covering%20with%20a%20lid%20if%20you%20have%20one,%20for%20about%205%20minutes.%20Serve%20atop%20your%20freshly%20steamed%20rice.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOther%20porky%20recipes%20you%20might%20enjoy.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
