%20without%20much%20notice.%20The%20usual%20parties,%20friends,%20resolutions%E2%80%A6blah,%20blah,%20blah.%20Something%20happened%20this%20year;%20something%20inspiring%20astonishing%20profound%20life-altering.%20I%20became%20%E2%80%9CAWARE%22.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20am%20fully%20awake%20and%20participating,%20and%20in%20charge.%20That%E2%80%99s%20right.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELife%20is%20good%E2%80%A6not%20your%20life,%20or%20her%20life,%20or%20their%20life.%20MY%20life.%20The%20one%20I%20chose.%20I%20am%20taking%20complete%20responsibility%20for%20it;%20the%20laughs%20and%20the%20cries%E2%80%A6the%20ups,%20the%20downs,%20the%20in-betweens.%20I%20guess%20it%E2%80%99s%20a%20new%20attitude%E2%80%A6if%20I%20got%20rid%20of%20it,%20it%20was%20no%20good%20for%20me%20in%20the%20first%20place,%20whatever%20%E2%80%9Cit%E2%80%9D%20was%E2%80%A6and%20I%E2%80%99m%20not%20looking%20back.%20I%20know%20the%20things%20I%20can%20control,%20and%20as%20for%20everything%20else?%20Those%20are%20his%20choices,%20or%20hers,%20or%20theirs.%20They%20don%E2%80%99t%20concern%20me.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%E2%80%99m%20making%20a%20few%20changes,%20and%20they%E2%80%99re%20not%20New%20Year%20resolutions,%20but%20something%20that%20started%20a%20couple%20of%20months%20ago.%20I%20had%20a%20car%20wreck;%20well,%20what%20really%20happened%20was%20that%20someone%20NOT%20paying%20attention%20or%20taking%20responsibility%20slammed%20into%20me.%20I%20have%20had%20to%20do%20some%20physical%20therapy%20and%20quite%20honestly%20I%20think%20that%E2%80%99s%20where%20it%20all%20started.%20My%20therapist%20is%20terrific-%20he%E2%80%99s%20thorough,%20and%20straightforward,%20and%20compassionate%E2%80%A6and%20a%20little%20bit%20of%20a%20Nazi.%20Just%20kidding.%20It%20only%20feels%20that%20way%20when%20I%20am%20feeling%20lazy-%20which%20is%20as%20it%20should%20be.%20We%20should%20NEVER%20be%20lazy%20about%20our%20own%20health.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPhysical%20therapy%20really%20put%20me%20in%20a%20place%20(mentally%20and%20emotionally)%20to%20actually%20THINK%20about%20my%20body,%20and%20what%20I%20was%20experiencing.%20When%20it%20hurt,%20or%20was%20uncomfortable,%20was%20to%20be%20explored%20just%20as%20avidly%20as%20when%20it%20felt%20%E2%80%9Cgood%E2%80%9D.%20It%20was%20an%20awakening%20of%20sorts,%20for%20me.%20I%20realized%20how%20%E2%80%9Cout%20of%20touch%E2%80%9D%20I%20have%20been%20with%20my%20physical%20self%20for%20way%20too%20long.%20This%20has%20been%20an%20ongoing%20process%20of%20sorts,%20since%20I%20quit%20smoking%20a%20year%20and%20a%20half%20ago%20I%20have%20been%20on%20a%20steady%20journey%20of%20discovery-%20of%20me.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECentered%20in%20that%20mode,%20I%E2%80%99ve%20started%20to%20make%20substantially%20more%20aggressive%20changes.%20Some%20exercise-%20nothing%20crazy,%20just%20walking%20again,%20%20running%20(again,%20nothing%20that%E2%80%99s%20gonna%20put%20me%20in%20any%20marathons)%20with%20my%20dogs,%20right%20in%20my%20own%20back%20yard,%20kicking%20the%20soccer%20ball%20with%20Owen%20and%20Rae%E2%80%A6and%20I%20noticed%20something.%20The%20more%20I%20do,%20the%20more%20I%20want%20to%20do.%20Fascinating.%20I%E2%80%99m%20learning%20to%20listen%20to%20my%20body%20and%20let%20it%20tell%20me%20what%20it%20wants/needs.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20am%20not%20shy%20about%20the%20fact%20that%20I%20love%20my%20own%20cooking%20better%20than%20anyone%20else%E2%80%99s.%20%20I%20write%20a%20%E2%80%9Csometimes%E2%80%9D%20food%20blog.%20I%20cook%20more%20nights%20than%20not.%20I%E2%80%99m%20spoiled-%20I%20typically%20have%20a%20much%20better%20meal%20from%20my%20own%20kitchen%20than%20a%20restaurant%E2%80%A6and%20it%20shows.%20I%20have%20had%20my%20year%20to%20spread%20my%20wings,%20now%20it%E2%80%99s%20time%20to%20get%20back%20to%20the%20business%20of%20taking%20care%20of%20myself%20and%20Mr.%20Wilson.%20Neither%20of%20us%20needs%20to%20be%20THAT%20self-indulgent.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDon%E2%80%99t%20look%20to%20see%20any%20%E2%80%9Cdiet%E2%80%9D%20food%20here%20because%20it%E2%80%99s%20not%20going%20to%20happen,%20I%20promise.%20I%E2%80%99m%20simply%20eating%20(and%20cooking)%20a%20little%20smarter.%20I%20don%E2%80%99t%20feel%20deprived%20at%20all,%20I%E2%80%99m%20losing%20about%20a%20pound%20a%20week%20steadily,%20and%20I%20don%E2%80%99t%20go%20hungry.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhat%20you%20will%20see,%20on%20a%20fairly%20regular%20basis,%20are%20some%20more%20%E2%80%9Chealthy%E2%80%9D%20recipes-%20and%20I%20refuse%20to%20trade%20off%20taste%20for%20calorie%20reduction,%20so%20it%E2%80%99s%20a%20challenge%20for%20someone%20like%20me%20who%20just%20simply%20loves%20to%20cook%20and%20isn%E2%80%99t%20used%20to%20paying%20attention%20to%20fats%20and%20calories.%20I%20know%20the%20changes%20are%20worth%20it.%20Ugh.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you%20made%20resolutions%20for%20the%20New%20Year,%20I%20wish%20you%20the%20best%20of%20luck%E2%80%A6I%20just%20don%E2%80%99t%20feel%20like%20I%20need%20a%20holiday%20to%20work%20for%20a%20better%20version%20of%20my%20life,%20and%20neither%20do%20you.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%
