%E2%80%A6%20it%20is%20well%20worth%20the%20time%20and%20effort%E2%80%A6%20a%20delicious%20side%20dish%E2%80%A6%20perfect%20for%20that%20backyard%20barbeque%E2%80%A6%20and%20with%20the%20grill%20season%20upon%20us%E2%80%A6%20a%20great%20time%20to%20add%20another%20terrific%20recipe%20to%20your%20file.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETIPS%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20used%20thick%20sliced%20smoked%20bacon%E2%80%A6%20it%20gave%20the%20beans%20a%20wonderful%20flavor.%20I%20chopped%20it...%20the%20recipe%20didn't%20specify...%20some%20cooks%20lay%20whole%20slices%20on%20the%20beans..%20I%20have%20always%20chopped%20it...%20so%20that's%20what%20I%20did.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20chopped%20the%20onion%20in%20my%20mini%20chopper%E2%80%A6%20I%20wanted%20it%20to%20be%20very%20fine%E2%80%A6%20a%20few%20pulses%20was%20all%20it%20needed.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20used%20dried%20beans%20and%20did%20the%20whole%20soaking%20the%20night%20before%20thing%E2%80%A6%20dried%20beans%20are%20so%20inexpensive%20and%20healthy%E2%80%A6%20well%20worth%20the%20little%20bit%20of%20effort%20in%20not%20using%20canned%20beans.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20will%20write%20the%20recipe%20as%20they%20have%20it%20on%20their%20site%E2%80%A6%20BUT%E2%80%A6%20please%20note%E2%80%A6%20I%20soaked%20the%20beans%20overnight%E2%80%A6%20simmered%20them%20%E2%80%A6%20(the%20time%20range%20given%20for%20simmering%20was%201-2%20hours%20or%20until%20beans%20are%20tender)%E2%80%A6%20I%20think%20the%20time%20should%20be%20closer%20to%20an%20hour..%20then%20baked%20them%20(the%20baking%20time%20range%20given%20was%203-4%20hours)%E2%80%A6%20I%20baked%20mine%20for%203%20%C2%BD%20hours%E2%80%A6.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20I%20soaked%20the%20beans%E2%80%A6%20the%20next%20morning%20the%20beans%20had%20absorbed%20almost%20all%20the%20water%E2%80%A6%20that%20hasn%E2%80%99t%20happened%20to%20me%20before%E2%80%A6%20so%20I%20simply%20added%20more%20water%20and%20let%20them%20soak%20for%20about%20an%20hour%20before%20simmering%20them%20in%20the%20water.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20didn%E2%80%99t%20have%20my%20bean%20pot%20..like%20many%20things%20I%20go%20to%20reach%20for%E2%80%A6%20it%E2%80%99s%20in%20New%20York%E2%80%A6%20so%20I%20used%20a%20covered%20casserole%20dish%20and%20it%20worked%20just%20fine.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20dish%20is%20the%20perfect%20dish%20to%20bring%20to%20a%20cookout%E2%80%A6%20it%20goes%20with%20virtually%20everything%20and%20is%20just%20so%20good%E2%80%A6%20I%E2%80%99m%20sure%20everyone%20will%20love%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERecipe:%20Boston%20Baked%20Beans%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAll%20you%20need:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAll%20you%20need%20to%20do:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESoak%20the%20beans%20overnight%20in%20cold%20water.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESimmer%20the%20beans%20in%20the%20same%20water%20you%20soaked%20them%20in%20until%20tender,%20approximately%201-2%20hours%20(see%20tips%20above).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDrain%20the%20beans%20and%20reserve%20the%20water.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20the%20oven%20to%20325%20degrees%20F.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20divided%20the%20beans%20into%20thirds%E2%80%A6%20layered%20a%20third%20of%20the%20beans%20in%20the%20bottom%20of%20a%20casserole%E2%80%A6%20then%20layered%20a%20third%20of%20the%20bacon%20and%20onions%20on%20top%20of%20it%20and%20repeated%20the%20layers%20until%20it%20was%20all%20layered.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20saucepan,%20combine%20the%20molasses,%20salt,%20pepper,%20dry%20mustard,%20brown%20sugar,%20ketchup%20and%20Worcestershire%20sauce%20%E2%80%A6%20bring%20mixture%20to%20a%20boil%20over%20medium%20heat%E2%80%A6%20this%20will%20boil%20rapidly%20so%20watch%20the%20saucepan.%20Stir%20well.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPour%20the%20mixture%20over%20the%20beans.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThen%20pour%20the%20reserved%20water%20over%20the%20beans%E2%80%A6just%20enough%20to%20cover%20them%E2%80%A6%20you%20will%20probably%20have%20some%20left%20over%E2%80%A6%20keep%20it%20%E2%80%A6you%20may%20need%20to%20add%20it%20later%20on%20if%20your%20beans%20dry%20out%20too%20much%20in%20the%20oven.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECover%20with%20a%20lid%20or%20aluminum%20foil.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBake%20for%203-4%20hours%20(see%20tip%20above)at%20325%20degrees%20F.%20until%20beans%20are%20tender.%20Remove%20the%20lid%20or%20foil%20about%20halfway%20through%20baking,%20add%20more%20liquid%20if%20necessary%20to%20prevent%20the%20beans%20from%20getting%20too%20dry%20(I%20did%20not%20have%20to%20do%20this).%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
