%20I%20bought%20from%20MacSween%20for%20my%20brunch,%20kept%20me%20going%20all%20day.%20After%20a%20scout%20around%20the%20Food%20Hall,%20I%20decided%20to%20head%20out%20to%20see%20some%20of%20the%20livestock%20before%20coming%20back%20for%20the%20Cookery%20Theatre.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThese%20beautiful%20white%20Charolais%20Bulls%20were%20waiting%20to%20be%20judged,%20they%20have%20been%20brushed%20and%20talcumned%20within%20an%20inch%20of%20their%20lives%20to%20make%20them%20look%20their%20best.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOnce%20in%20the%20ring,%20this%20one%20wasn't%20quite%20so%20well%20behaved!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20wasn't%20quite%20sure%20what%20they%20were%20doing%20here,%20they%20seemed%20to%20be%20getting%20this%20poor%20sheep%20to%20keep%20turning%20round%20so%20they%20could%20look%20at%20both%20sides,%20it%20seemed%20bemused%20rather%20than%20distressed%20by%20it%20though.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20magnificent%20working%20horse.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20Ladies%20Hunters%20were%20ridden%20side-saddle.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow%20I%20could%20carry%20on%20as%20I%20have%20more%20livestock%20photos,%20but%20I%20think%20I'd%20better%20get%20back%20to%20the%20food!%20%20First%20up%20in%20Scotland's%20Natural%20Larder%20Cookery%20Theatre%20was%20Wendy%20Barrie,%20a%20campaigner%20for%20local%20produce.%20%20Wendy%20was%20a%20finalist%20for%20the%20Scottish%20Countryside%20Alliance%20Rural%20Hero%20Award%20recognising%20outstanding%20personal%20contributions%20to%20country%20life%20&%20communities%20for%20her%20dedicates%20upport%20of%20lcoal%20produce%20and%20her%20on%20going%20achievements.%20%20Wendy%20was%20cooking%20up%20'A%20Celebration%20of%20East%20Lothian%20Food%20and%20Drink'.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWendy%20made%20some%20delicious%20trout%20skewers,%20the%20trout%20was%20marinated%20in%20lemon%20juice,%20honey%20mustard%20and%20honey.%20%20They%20cooked%20in%20the%20oven%20in%20no%20time%20and%20were%20accompanied%20by%20a%20salad.%20%20Wendy%20had%20some%20help%20to%20make%20the%20salad%20dressing%20from%20Michael%20Moore%20MP%20the%20Secretary%20of%20State%20for%20Scotland.Michael%20Moore%20MP%20making%20salad%20dressing%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWendy%20also%20made%20a%20Chocolate%20Roulade%20and%20a%20Tea%20Loaf%20which%20was%20cooked%20flat%20as%20a%20traybake%20type%20thing,%20which%20was%20served%20with%20ice%20cream.%20Best%20Tip:%20Add%20some%20cocoa%20powder%20to%20your%20melted%20chocolate%20to%20intensify%20the%20flavour.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20main%20event,%20for%20me,%20was%20Craig%20Wilson,%20The%20Kilted%20Chef%20who%20is%20Chef%20Proprietor%20at%20Eat%20on%20the%20Green,%20Udny%20Green.%20%20The%20theme%20of%20the%20demonstration%20was%20'Science%20on%20a%20Plate'%20as%20Craig%20was%20accompanied%20by%20Nutritionist%20Alex%20Johnstone%20of%20the%20Rowett%20Institute%20of%20Nutrtition%20and%20Health%20at%20Aberdeen%20University%20and%20David%20Thomson,%20Head%20of%20Food%20and%20Drink%20for%20the%20Scottish%20Government.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECraig%20cooked%20three%20dishes%20a%20Cullen%20Skink%20Risotto%20using%20finely%20diced%20potato%20rather%20than%20rice.%20%20Aberdeen%20Angus%20Beef%20with%20Vegetable%20and%20Chick%20Pea%20Bhuna%20and%20a%20Raspberry,%20Oat,%20Ginger%20and%20Chocolate%20Dessert.%20%20While%20he%20was%20cooking%20Alex%20told%20us%20about%20the%20nutritional%20benefits%20of%20cooking%20our%20own%20fresh%20ingredients.%20%20David%20was%20able%20to%20provide%20information%20about%20the%20Food%20Industry%20in%20Scotland,%20I%20learned%20that%20the%20Scottish%20Food%20Industry%20is%20worth%20%C2%A312.4%20billion%20per%20year.%20%20Aberdeen%20Angus%20Beef%20with%20Vegetable%20and%20Chick%20Pea%20Bhuna%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhile%20making%20the%20dessert,%20Craig%20came%20down%20into%20the%20audience%20to%20let%20us%20smell%20the%20raspberries%20he%20had%20lightly%20sauted%20with%20some%20whisky,%20the%20aroma%20was%20incredible!%20%20And%20you%20get%20to%20see%20that%20he%20really%20is%20a%20'kilted'%20Chef.%20%20Best%20Tip:%20%20If%20your%20onions%20are%20cooking%20too%20quickly%20and%20starting%20to%20burn,%20add%20a%20little%20water%20to%20the%20pan%20to%20slow%20down%20the%20cookingRaspberry,%20Oat,%20Ginger%20and%20Chocolate%20Dessert%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20had%20a%20great%20time%20at%20the%20Royal%20Highland%20Show,%20there%20are%20still%20three%20days%20to%20go,%20so%20if%20you%20are%20able%20to%20get%20to%20Edinburgh,%20then%20I%20can%20thoroughly%20recommend%20it.%20%20If%20not,%20then%20start%20planning%20for%202014!%20%20I'll%20leave%20you%20with%20some%20more%20livestock,%20without%20them%20there%20wouldn't%20be%20a%20show.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMany%20thanks%20to%20Chris%20for%20inviting%20me%20to%20visit%20the%20Show.%20%20I%20received%20a%20complimentary%20ticket%20and%20parking%20pass%20for%20one%20day%20of%20the%20Royal%20Highland%20Show,%20I%20was%20not%20paid%20for%20this%20post%20and%20all%20views%20are%20my%20own.Labels:%20Charolais,%20Craig%20Wilson,%20Eat%20on%20the%20Green,%20jam,%20Kilted%20Chef,%20Mackays,%20Macsween%20Haggis,%20Row
