%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI'm%20also%20not%20a%20big%20fan%20of%20dandelion%20greens%20(too%20bitter)....or%20rutabaga%20(a%20staple%20in%20Newfie%20boiled%20dinner%20and%20therefore%20forever%20tainted%20in%20my%20mind)%20for%20that%20matter.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20do%20love%20me%20some%20polenta%20though!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20fact%20that%20I%20am%20not%20enamored%20of%20the%20main%20ingredients%20in%20this%20dish%20is%20actually%20what%20drew%20me%20to%20it.%20I%20wanted%20to%20be%20challenged%20to%20open%20myself%20up%20to%20flavours%20that%20I%20typically%20wouldn't%20consider%20cooking%20or%20ordering%20on%20a%20menu.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20verdict?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPork%20loin?%20It%20was%20moist,%20tender%20and%20yummy.%20Marinating%20the%20loin%20cut%20for%20an%20hour%20before%20hand%20definitely%20gave%20it%20a%20texture%20that%20I%20hadn't%20experienced%20before.Dandelion%20greens?%20Still%20overwhelmingly%20bitter...until%20combined%20with%20the%20polenta%20and%20the%20pork.%20Then%20the%20bitterness%20was%20neutralized%20and%20I%20enjoyed%20the%20combination.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERutabaga?%20Time%20to%20give%20the%20turnip%20a%20second%20chance,%20I%20say.%20Also,%20my%20love%20of%20braised%20veggies%20is%20once%20more%20re-affirmed.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPolenta?%20%20Always%20a%20winner.%20I'd%20never%20had%20it%20with%20mascarpone%20before.%20It%20certainly%20won't%20be%20the%20last%20time%20though.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAs%20a%20whole%20dish%20I%20have%20to%20say%20this%20may%20have%20been%20my%20least%20favourite%20so%20far.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDon't%20get%20me%20wrong,%20it%20was%20good.%20It%20just%20didn't%20excite%20me%20or%20inspire%20me%20in%20any%20way.%20I%20am%20reminded%20of%20the%20judges%20suggesting%20a%20kind%20of%20safety%20on%20Brian's%20part.%20I%20can%20see%20it%20in%20this%20dish.%20It%20felt%20safe%20and%20standard%20-%20good%20but%20not%20special.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMix%20together%20marinade.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPour%20over%20pork%20chops%20and%20marinate%20covered%20in%20fridge%20for%201%20hour.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERutabaga:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhile%20pork%20is%20marinating%20heat%20chicken%20stock,%20vinegar,%20sherry%20and%20honey%20until%20forms%20glaze.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20in%20butter.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20in%20rutabaga%20and%20cook%20until%20tender%20(about%2030%20mins)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPork:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemove%20pork%20from%20marinade%20and%20dry%20thoroughly%20with%20paper%20towel.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESear%20pork%20on%20stove%20top%20until%20medium%20to%20medium%20rare.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBaste%20pork%20with%20butter,%20rosemary%20and%20garlic.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELet%20rest.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERoast%20oyster%20mushrooms%20in%20pan%20with%20pork%20fat%20until%20browned.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EReserve%20for%20plating.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPolenta:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHeat%20whole%20milk%20to%20simmer%20and%20pour%20in%20polenta.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStir%20constantly%20for%2010-15%20mins%20until%20desired%20consistency%20is%20reached.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20in%20mascarpone%20and%20butter.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESeason%20with%20s&p.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDandelion:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20small%20saute%20pan%20heat%20butter%20to%20a%20froth.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20in%20red%20onion%20and%20cook%20until%20translucent.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20dandelion%20and%20lemon%20zest.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECook%20until%20braised.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20serve:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESpoon%20polenta%20on%20to%20plate.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDandelion%20greens%20and%20mushrooms%20on%20top.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESliced%20pork%20on%20top%20of%20that.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERutabaga%20on%20the%20side.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
