I like to call myself a "Career Culinary Student" My daughter was ready to graduate from high school & my son was just starting middle school. I had returned to college to complete my Associates Degree to set an example, and completed the task in 2 years while working fulltime. Hard work, but found that I enjoyed learning. Since I had run out of regular classes to take, my husband encouraged me to follow my dream and attend culinary classes. I was HOOKED! I even won 1st prize in my schools competiiton & earned a scholarship. While doing trial runs of my menus at home for competitions & finals, I soon had a list of family & friends hoping that they could "sit it" on the meal. I.started classes over 8 yrs ago, but due to full time job & family haven't quite finished. In the meantime I keep my skills up by experimenting with new recipes and enjoy trying new combinations of old favorites that help keep the budget in check. My friends are always asking for this or that recipe, and a lot of the times I work around what they have on hand. I know if I answer the phone to "is this the Betty Crocker Hotline?" I know it's a cooking question. This past year I've been kept pretty busy doing lots of cakes(birthday, babyshower & wedding) for my family & friends including my 3 young grandsons.
