I grew up in a restaurant located outside of a town called Carbondale,Pennsylvania. It was called The Barn, because it was exactly that.A old horse barn which my folks and several family members converted to a B & B. My Mama was the Chief in our kitchen and nothing went out to the dining floor w/o her approval.I remember a banquet that we catered for and over 700 people attended. No one left that night w/o saying how wonderful the food was and they planned on returning. My Moma's cooking is known around the world because we were fortunate to have several people from several countries visit our restaurant.Enough about the past. Some of Moma's cooking expertise has rubbed off. When I am invited to a social event ( I live where the University of Iowa is located and I am employed in Facilities Management) I always try to bring a little old world flavor for my friends to enjoy.Moma always said " If you Love something,Love it with your whole being" and she certainly did.I wish I had a fraction of the cooking knowledge she had stored not in books, but inside of her. She never stopped trying to imrove on so many of her cooking creations that she would create a new one each time she tried, just by adding a pince here or a dash there. I,m looking forward to connecting with people and experiencing new and wonderful pleasures in the world of Cooking.

Moma was my primary mentor in the world of cooking. She showed me how to simmer sauces, make several wonderful dishes ( she made a 3 inch thick lasagna that was out of this world.I wish Moma was still alive to see how I have grown to Love something she had a passion for. I'm sure she is preparing meals in Heaven, because don't all Good Chefs go to the Big Kitchen in the Sky. I have also been blessed to see Emeril Lagasse,Wolfgang Puck and the Queen of all fine chefs,Julia Child in action. They and somany others are a joy to watch, because they don't just cook, they create. Bon Appetite.
